I was by there yesterday, they don't look like they'll be ready to open for at least 2-3 weeks.

Currently in "soft" opening. Limited staff, but food was tasty.

Had dinner there. Nice place! Very festive and Mexican looking. Food was fresh and really good. Chips and salsa were the best I've had around here.
One complaint: ordered a beer. It came in a small glass. I even asked if they made a mistake. Manager came over and assured me it was 12 ounces. Didn't look like it, and most places serve 16 oz pint glass size beers. Charged full price though. Doubt I'll drink much when I'm there.

Have to agree on Chips and Salsa and margaritas were very good. On the food front I thought the food could use a little more flavor (it was sorta bland) Ill try it again just to make sure its not opening day jitters.......

Bland isn't good, but authentic Mexican food is not all that spicy, with a few exceptions of course.

Can't get spicy food here in gringoville. Whether it's Mexican, Thai, etc., you have to beg for spicy. You have to beg and embarrass them to finally make it spicy enough!

I have to disagree, go to Bangrak and ask for #5 spicy on any dish you order. You'll feel it, as my husband says, today and tomorrow! :angryfire:

For excellent spicy: try king pao chicken
    at Big Bowl in Reston.

If you want HOT eat at the Curry Club off Waxpool.

And I thought that El Sol Azteca was mediocre at best. I had the mixed grill and not only was my steak tough and bland so was my chicken. If a restaurant can't cook chicken right, count me out. The restaurant is beautiful and should be if what I've heard about what the owner has spent to open the place is true. Your restaurant can look like the Taj Mahal but it will fail if the food is not good. I'll give the place another chance after it's been open a few months.

My fajitas were very bland and tough. They spent a good deal of money on the decor and the atmosphere is nice. Hopefully the food will improve.

I was referring to Mexican food in this area being bland....let me know if you find one.

Sorry, yes, I agree. I love Mexican but can't find the good stuff here either. Mind you, I can't find it in Mexico either!

Ok. Was there once, and asked for extra spicy....then I had to ask for the spicy condiment tray to heat it up. Didn't order by number, though. Just told them to make it extra spicy.

Went to El Sol on Friday night and it was crazy busy. AND CRAZY SLOOOOOWWWWWW!

They were still running their limited menu and the waiter did not know when they would be "officially" using the main menu. He didn't know what kind of sauce was used on the enchiladas (red? green?) and he got our order wrong twice. So definitely training is needed.

The food itself was fine. Nothing super amazing but good. I'd wait a while to go back.

    El Sol Azteca

Family and I went there last week. It was ALMOST GOOD, so it was leaps and bounds above the area's weak attempts at Mexican food.

I feel better now! We tried to go there Friday night but got there later than expected and was told it was a 45 minute wait. Place looked crazy busy with people at the bar 2-3 deep and the waiting area was full with people spilling outside.
