I noticed signs saying they opened on Monday. Anyone been yet? Care to share a review? :)

we went there on Monday, the owner was very nice. We only got takeout, but it was pretty good. a little high priced for the portions, if you ask me, but good none the less. the have a little bit of everything from various asian countries.

Agree with sds. Portions are very small for the price. But the items that we ordered were very good and fresh. Not too oily. Also, they don't appear to cook with MSG. Thus, you can add your own soy sauce to taste.

Where is this restaurant located? Next to Safeway? If you haven't already figured out - everything in Ashburn is expensive, services, food, restaurants etc. Since we all live in expensive housing - they figure we're all wealthy!!

It is in the 'lime green monster' behind the Circle K/Sunoco.

What kind of food do they have? I couldn't find a website for the restaurant.

    The website is www.cafeopera.net

Tyger31, I disagree that everything is Ashburn is expensive. It's no different than the rest of Northern VA and much better than the District. In any event, Cafe Opera is MUCH more expensive than the other Chinese restaurants in Ashburn. If they served larger portions, then it would be worth it. But, right now, I question it from a value perspective.

Well - we typically don't eat out - I love to cook and get much better meals right at home. I've spoiled my family. However, whenever we are looking for contractors or services, we go outside the county...and get much better service, deals etc.

Just had dinner from Cafe Opera-YUM. A little pricey, but everything we had was tasty. They have broiled eel (like a platter of eel sushi!). Wanted to share my experience. Oh, and the people were very nice...

We've eaten there several times. While the food may be more expensive than you might have expected, the food is very good, it is fresh, clean and the service is very good. Our motto has always been "you get what you pay for" so paying a little more for good food is not a big deal.

We ate there this week as well. We thought it was very good in comparison to other Asian restaurants in the area. It was nice to get entrees that weren't drowning in sauce. Try the Golden Cup appetizer. It was delicious! :)

For those that are cost-conscious, their lunch specials are a good deal. All you can eat soup and appetizers, an entree, and all you can eat dessert for a fixed price.

We ate there tonight and it was very good. The owner said he has read this thread and he's increased the portion sizes based on the comments made here. He also told me that next Mon, Tues, and Wed he's giving a 10% discount on the food and a free Golden Cup appetizer for Broadland residents. I'll definitely eat there again.

We had takeout from Cafe Opera the other night and thought it was the best Asian food we have had in Ashburn. The portions seemed comparable with the other restaurants in the area, although they did seem to skimp a little on the rice. The entrees we had were fresh and tasty, and most importantly did not have that filmy texture we have experienced at some of the other restaurants.

Thoight i had posted this ....

We were at COpera a couple weeks ago. The place is very clean (course, it's new); service very attentive; food excellent.

Everything seemed quite fresh - rather than "kept warm in the back." Menu has a nice assortment of entrees - from various regions.

While priced higher than some area places - we felt it was our money's worth - very good quality food in a clean and QUiET setting.

Especially enjoyed the shrimp-lemongrass soup. A nice change. I recommend sharing several appetizers and splitting a larger entree (if 2 people).

    We'll be regulars there.

We had a carry out from this place about a week ago. The food was really good, but I thought it was too greasy. We ordered some chicken wings and Singapore rice noodles and both of them were very greasy (compared to other places). But, the food tasted the best compared to other Asian places in this area. We will order again, but may be mention to them to be easy on oil.

I loved it, I order carry out from there all the time. Very nice people and the meat is good, it's not fatty like some other restaurants. [:p]
