Ay Caramba!

My new fave, Taco Bell, due to the new Taco Loco and coming soon Taco Loco Cool Ranch and Flamas, was hit with tragedy today. Apparently someone tried to make a second drive through from the front side of the building. I took some images and hope you enjoy, my heart goes out to the a$$hat that drove into it, must have really had a craving for some Mexican Eatin.

Image 1321 and 1322, you can see the skid marks (on the street), they start in the foreground and end on the opposite side of the road, across the other lanes and over the embankment. In 1323, you'll notice that there is no longer a tree there, I suspect there is moderate damage to the car at this point and then in 1324 is the damage to the Taco bell. I spoke to manager, drive through is open and dinning room will be open by Saturday although not completely.

 

Great pics, I wonder how fast he /she was going to do that much damage.

I was awakened last night by what sounded like a high speed chase with several cop cars. Wondering if this had anything to do with that. Anyone else in southern walk hear the noise?

 

You know, other than this, I didnt's see any report or accident notice through the VA or LOCO notification systems. I just thought it was an accident, there was a high speed chase over on LOCO parkway, but that was over by 7. Hmm, interesting.

 

When that late night hunger hits.....let no road, tree, curb, or embankment stand in the way between me and my taco!

 

What I heard didn't necessarily have to be a high-speed chase I guess, the cops could have been responding to a call. But I heard some peeling wheels and a very high acceleration and a minimum of two cop cars turn on their sirens at the same time. I just assumed in my late night haze that they must have caught someone racing on Claiborne or doing something they weren't supposed to be doing.

 

Wow... I saw the construction but just thought they were adding another entrance. I'm so out of it!

 

Especially if it's the Dorito Taco - mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

 

Has anyone been able to find anything in the local news on this? I'm coming up empty in my search.

I drive by the scene every day and the tire marks make me think it's more than just someone texting. The driver needed some good speed to jump 2 curbs, take out a tree and leave those marks on the road. Someone on the other thread said a Taco Bell employee said it was a cop car that went through the window. Surely that would be news-worthy? It may also have been someone just trying to let the owner know that they should stay open past midnight there. Everyone knows Taco Bell is best between the hours of midnight and 4am.

 

I stopped by there yesterday and talked to an employee who was working at the time of the crash. He confirmed it was a police car. Said the officer wasn't hurt and that all the police will say is that it is under investigation.

 

Given how much news coverage is given to any accident involving a police officer, this is giving me an uneasy feeling. As in, is it being swept under the rug?

The "radio silence" could lead to more speculation than is necessary.

Maybe it's just me, but now I'm wondering why we're not hearing about it at all outside of this forum. (And the Taco Bell, obviously.)

 

Or perhaps they are so embarrassed by this incident that the Top Brass has asked to keep this mum for now as its an internal investigation? Im thinking this is more like it.

 

I stopped by Taco Bell and asked a few questions about the crash. The employees say they've been told several different stories by the police about what actually happened. I still haven't found an article online about the incident. I smell coverup.

 

I mentioned the incident to a local reporter. we'll see if she follows up.
