Safeway Gas Discount

For those of you with a discount card at Safeway, there is no more automatic 3 cents off per gallon at their gas station. They have changed to a rewards system based on $ spent at Safeway.

Not sure about the rules and I don't spend enough there to find out - probably similar to Giant.

 

That's good to know. They are our second choice gas station after Sams Club in Sterling because of the discount. Going to have to start checking the Gas Buddy app...

 

Thanks for the heads up. Sunoco on Belmont Ridge Road (Goose Creek shopping center) has been the cheapest in the area since it opened.

 

Do you get purchase credits from Safeway when you buy something, take it home, notice that it is expired, then take it back to Safeway? If so, I probably have a couple of free tanks of gas coming.

 

Afgm- hilarious! We play a game at Safeway- see who can find the most expired food during our visit. Extra points if there is visible mold.

 

Just went to fill up. As of this morning, Sonoco is 3.59, Safeway is 3.56.

 

Does gas go bad too or have a best buy date? I would be afraid of their gas if it does.

 

You got me, guess they brought the ticket price down since the 3 cents discount no longer stands.

 

Well, I never found 3 cents a gallon very motivating anyway. On a 10 gallon tank only 30 cents or so. Like the convenience of Safeway since I can go to the bank and the gas station in the same center. Don't shop at the store but guess for those who do, the new policy should make them happy.

 

they should have made it a % discount, but oh well. Costco for most of our gas.

 

Gas does have a expiration date. Just try putting some old gas in your lawn mower and see if it starts. I'll bet the lawn mower repair guy makes a fortune just emptying out old gas!

 

At least they are honest! "One of the best discounts around".....
