There are a couple running groups from Potomac River Running as well as Ashburn Running Club. I run with a bunch of moms on Saturday mornings and we're all in various stages of training for various runs coming up. I am actually training for the MCM and the Richmond Marathon and then in January I'm running a Ragnar Relay. If you're not wicked fast, I could join you (depending on schedules of course).

i'm doing the pr training program for the baltimore half. i'd be interested in company for some early morning or evening runs. i do an easy slow pace when i run so if you aren't put off by my 12-13 minute mile i'd love to run with company! i'd like to pick up a few 3-6 mile runs a few times a week in addition to the long run i do with my training group on sundays...

I'm available, too. I'm not a fast runner. I think I normally try for around 11 min/mile, but I just finished the Army Ten Miler last Sunday in 1:44:52, which was a little over 10 minutes per mile. I normally run around the DC area / mall / monuments on weekdays from work, but on the weekends I run around Broadlands. My next goals I'm going to shoot for are the Cherry Blossom 10 Mile in April and the Marine Corps Historic Half Marathon in May.

What are your favorite routes? I have two favorite routes that I alternate between:

    1. Broadlands Hills. From the Claiborne and Broadlands intersection, I go past Clyde's and up the Broadlands hill to Belmont Ridge. I come back down Broadlands and then go up the Glebe View hill to Truro Parish. Then I go down Truro Parish to Belmont Ridge and up the Truro Parish hill back to Glebe View. Then down Truro Parish toward Dunkin Donuts and the pedestrian tunnel. Then I do some type of a loop around Southern Walk depending on what total mileage I'm trying to get for the day. Sometimes I cut from Ridgeway through the Eagle Ridge parking lot back to Truro Parish, through the tunnel and back home for about 6 miles. Today I added a loop and did 7.5 miles on that route at an average 11:04/mile.

Here's what my Broadlands Hills route looks like: http://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/615184889

    2. Ashburn Tunnels. From the Claiborne and Broadlands intersection, I go north on Claiborne under the Dulles Greenway and past the pedestrian tunnel. Don't go through that tunnel yet, go past it headed north on Claiborne and take the first left after that. Run over to the path that leads north to the pedestrian tunnel under Ashburn Farms Parkway by Sanders Corner Elementary. Take the path north along the edge of the Sanders Corner track and field, cross the wooden pedestrian bridge, turn right and follow the path over to Claiborne. Turn left on the path (sidewalk) at Claiborne and follow it up to the pedestrian tunnel under Claiborne by the pond. Go through the tunnel and take the path that heads east on the north side of the pond. Follow that path as it curves south around the outside of the Wayside Circle houses. When it comes to a T south of the Wayside Circle places, turn left toward the Dinosaur Park, then right across the wood bridge, then left at the basketball court and continue following the path south to the next tunnel that goes under Ashburn Farms Parkway east of Windmill. Get off the path at Coulter and take Windmill back to Claiborne. Head south on Claiborne to the pedestrian tunnel just north of the Greenway. Go through the tunnel and head south on Claiborne under the Greenway and back to the starting point. It's about a 5.8 mile loop starting from Claiborne and Broadlands. If you drive up to Windmill and just do the loop through the four pedestrian tunnels, it's about a 4 mile loop, and it's mostly in shade / under the trees on the nice paved paths through Ashburn.

Here's what the 4 Tunnels Loop looks like: http://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/580577595
Although it shows my pace was 12 min/mile, note that the temp was 90F that day and I was hurting in the heat.

Anyway, I know that's kind of hard to grasp just reading it on the screen. If anyone wants to run either route with me on a weekend (or holiday), let me know.
