It's a holiday weekend.. so what does that mean? Your AC unit starts acting up of course!

Our older system started freaking out yesterday after hours. I called Climatic and Sonny got back to me within just a few minutes. He helped me narrow the problem on the phone and found a tech for me on short notice. My unit had iced up so I had to let it defrost before anything could really be done. So I let it defrost hoping it was mostly my horrible filter holding the system back..

Reminder - Change your filters! :)

So after letting the system melt and try to catch up it couldn't do the job so in the morning I had to call back. Climatic was able to get me a tech for same day and was able to get me running again quickly.

Climatic came through again with great personalized service and was able to get our unit cooling again to get me through the holiday weekend.

Thank you Sonny and Climatic! - http://www.climaticva.com

I had the same issue in June. Just what did they charge you recharge, another charged mr $300 which I thought was highway robbery, but it was 100 outside. I realize it is an older system, but I was at 40 and needed to be charged to 50

We are having similar issues this weekend too. Of course we do not want to pay the large mark up due to it being a holiday weekend.

I am interested to know the price too.

    TY!

It is what it is now.. due to the government forced low availability on Freon. Costs have more than tripled in a year.

    http://www2.nbc4i.com/news/2012/jul/23/cost-freon-triples-what-now-ar-1112484/

I think it was about $130/lb for the Freon, plus the service visit.

It makes it really less economical to keep a limping, leaking system running. And when you throw in restrictions on mixing coil/compressors/efficencies.. you're basically forced to upgrade both the inside and outside units to get a reasonable return on your money.

The charge is going to be largely based on your service required. This is an older unit, so I have to get Freon which because of government forced phase-down on it is extremely expensive. Costs have tripled for it this year alone. I know you have to pay more for a weekend service.. unsure if Monday is more due to the holiday... but probably.

We just had Sonny replace our upstairs unit. Turned out that the furnace that VM installed can handle a lot more than VM provided outside. We were able to upgrade to a 2.5ton unit from a less than 2 ton unit and keep our existing furnace which they inspected and fixed. Sonny basically said we don't need to upgrade the furnace unless we wanted the top of the line automated system so we went with the middle grade. WOW is that new unit quiet. Our other old goodman unit is at least 10 times louder. such junk VM installed. Imagine how quiet the neighborhood would be if we all had decent AC units lol
