Stop sign(s) needed in Southern Walk Plaza

And sidewalks on Wynridge on the townhouse side? You can't get to the shopping center from Avonworth without walking on the road. There is not a sidewalk on Wynridge between Avonworth and Claiborne nor Avonworth towards the shopping center.

 

Cant remember what the plan is for that side of the road with the development that will happen in the area... They have been working the other side for several years - waiting for the turn over of the road so that it was a different VDOT entity tthat could/would approve the sidewalk.

Will ask them about that - not sure if the plans are fully drawn up

 

I have a fear of speed bumps, but am slowly getting over it....

 

Speed bumps have been added between McDonald's and Walgreens.

A 3rd stop sign has been added, between Walgreens and Leesburg/Sterling Family Practice. Drivers coming from the rear of the center towards Wynridge now have a stop sign. We've also removed a tree in front of Walgreens to help with visibility, and plan to trim and/or remove the bushes in front of LSFP to help with visibility there too. We can't add a 4th stop sign for drivers entering the center, since we can't run the risk of traffic spilling out onto Wynridge.

I appreciate everyone's safety concern feedback. Please let me know if you see any others. Sorry, can't help with police officers driving into buildings . . .

Thanks for all your support, etc. I still see people DRIVING AROUND the speed bumps or even going fast over the bumps...its annoying when I have to stop when someone is trying to go around the speed bumps heading towards me. People are crazy when they do that....

 

Yay.

Now my front end alignment goes out of alignment even faster.

The good news is that the new speed bumps don't deter people from parking in front of the no parking signs.

I think the biggest issue, which I have enjoyed on many occassions, is the fact that people come in to the walgreens exit at speed, so even if I am "aggressively" accelerating from a stop, they close the distance much faster than the car can make it out of the intersection.

 

People parking in front of the no parking signs is rampant in this center, and creates dangerous situations and blocks traffic flow.

"I'll only be a minute"

"I'm just picking up my pizza"

"I'm just dropping my kid off a karate"

"I would park, but I have a child in a car seat"


Park your lazy arse in a space and walk to the business you are patronizing.

As of this morning -Tuesday - STOP sign is up.

 

I second that. There's always someone who thinks they're more special than everyone else and therefore don't have to park like everyone else. I'm fairly used to it, but it does get tiring to see people parking in front of Harris Teeter to "just run in and get a quick item" or to "pick up a Redbox movie". I mean, if everyone did that....

I'd give anything to be deputized for a day and give out violations all day long for people stopping in a no stopping zone. I'd probably hand them out with a little card that says "Parking space. Over there. See it? Use it!".
