    Dear Overly Generous Neighbor:

I found your enormously large gift of poo in my front yard this afternoon. I apologize, you must have left it this morning, but I just noticed it or I would have thanked you earlier.

However, while it was extraordinarily generous of you (it was obviously an uncommon effort), I feel a bit uncomfortable accepting such an intimate gift from someone that I am sure that I don't know, at least not well. I have a firm rule about poo, in that I feel it is something reserved strictly for dog owners themselves, parents of small children and of course, oneself to enjoy.

I have taken the liberty of bagging your gift up and was about to leave it where you originally so carefully placed it, but I thought that you would appreciate it if I would pay the gift forward, to a place where it would be appreciated and put it in the trash.

Please help yourself to the water I leave out for passing, thirsty pups, but there is no need to repay or thank me. I enjoy doing it.

    Sincere Regards,
    Your Charming Neighbor

    Charmed1,

I hear you! Our neighbor has been "walking" their dog on our yard for about 8 yrs. They deny when they're confronted! Blame us for saying anything to them about it. Say that we caused the problem because we raised the issue with them. And they simply don't care about anyone but themselves. Not the dog's fault. Humans are a piece of work!

Seriously. We've lived here for a year and a half. No poo. Every day this past week, someone has left us a "gift."

I feel for you. But I have to say, this is one of the most eloquent, brilliantly written posts I have read on the forums. Hope things get better, and cheers to you for finding the humor. :)

To the woman in the blue jacket with the brown dog: I doubt if you are reading this, but I want to thank you on behalf of the trash collectors for the little gift you placed in my trash bin this morning. It was SO kind of you to leave the gift from your dog in a little plastic bag on top of my own trash. It is such a wonderful gift, I hardly even know if they will accept it.

I hope they do, because I DON'T WANT TO HANDLE YOUR DOG'S CRAP--ANY MORE THAN YOU WANTED TO CARRY HOME TO YOUR OWN TRASH!

I guess I should be grateful that you picked it up at all, but next time, go the extra mile and put it in a PUBLIC trash bin (or your own) AND NOT THAT OF AN UNSUSPECTING NEIGHBOR, TO BE HANDLED BY AN UNSUSPECTING TRASH COLLECTOR!

It could be worse. I had someone drop their doggie bag into my trash can AFTER the trash had already been collected. Then, my kids put the bin back in the garage. Guess how bad that smelled when I went to put a bag of garbage into the bin a few days later????? I now check the trash bin before I put it back in the garage.

And, I own a dog. I would never do that to any of my neighbors.

Somehow because the DOG CRAP was in a flimsy little plastic sack, it is okay to expect the trash collector to want to handle it when even the dog's loving owner doesn't want to? I don't know how it works on your street, but our collectors usually just grab the bag and don't dump the whole trashcan. I guess that is another story. But I generally don't mind because I DON'T LEAVE LOOSE TRASH OR DOG CRAP in my bin. :angryfire:

T-Man, Good for you! I agree completely....This Woody guy/girl needs to get over it. The trash collectors DON'T give a "crap" pardon the pun...Of what they are tossing into the truck..That is why they collect trash, it is their job! And by the way, usually are wearing gloves...

What do you expect, that they just got their nails done and are wearing their Sunday best?

C'mon...wise up...and go save some trees

Why do you assume that it came from a dog? :devil2:

THANKS SO MUCH for leaving your little gift in my EMPTY trash can today. Fortunately I found your little present before I wheeled the can into the garage.

IS IT SO MUCH TO ASK FOR DOG OWNERS TO HAVE A LITTLE CONSIDERATION FOR THEIR NEIGHBORS? If you don't want to touch your dog's CR*P or carry the bag home, what makes you think I want to pick it up of my lawen or dig it out of the bottom of my trash can?

that is SO rude. it is SO inconsiderate to do that to someone. we store our can outside and i don't even put my own dogs scooped poop in OUR trashcan unless i absolutely have to.

be glad most people in this neighborhood have manners and know better. we need these stickies on trash cans, think the HOA would spring for 'em?...:signsplease:

Just out of curiosity, where do you put your bags? I've only had a dog for 6 months. Sometimes I'll put the bags in the green trash bins that are designated for that but they are often full. I live off Demott and I see people putting it in the trash can at the pool but I don't want to do that because there is a playground a few feet away.

I put it in my own trashcan. I do spray it out and use comet in it weekly. I also plan on increasing the tip for the guys this year.

Doesn't someone empty the dog stations into the trash? What are you supposed to do with it?

put it in a public trash can, or your own... not just dump it in the nearest private can you can find.

I do put it in my own, but I am wondering if that is rude to the refuge workers. I was asking Redon, not you.
