:RANT ON: to the lady Assh@t driving a dark honda SUV making a dangerous UTURN in front of Mill Run elementary school entrance - you made the most boneheaded move on Ridgeway drive being so selfish blocking not only the entrance to the school but also Ridgeway drive. Didnt you even take a min to think how dangerous this is especially with others trying to get in and out of the school grounds? Oh and i saw you lived only a block away from the school?!?!?

Oh and i did give the sheriff the license plate number of your car after i found out that its not permitted to make Uturns there. :RANT OFF:

Mill Run drop off gets a little crazy on wet mornings. I was behind a Suburban that stopped in the middle of the road to drop off. When I finally got around that person I almost got hit by a CRV pulling a u-turn in front of the Suburban... Sigh...

Wonder if they can't get the Sheriff's office out there on the wet mornings to enforce the u-turn rule...

You should fill out the form for traffic complaints thats available on the Loudoun County Sherriff's webpage. They definitely want to hear from you and you can even call them to voice your complaint. THe more, the better so we can have some sanity on the road.

The woman in the car who made the u-turn acted all holy and mighty as if she OWNED the road. What burns me is that she lives one block from the school. She COULDN'T even make an effort to keep going straight and then take a right on Claiborne to make another right onto Stone Hollow Road to get back onto Ridgeway to go home....ITs a lot safer than making a U-turn...I'd love it if either she hits someone then gets sued OR a sherriff tickets her on the spot (she probably won't even TRY doing that if she saw a cop there.)

We ride the bus so I have no clue what the situation is for drop-off but I'm wondering why they can't just drive straight and loop around on Stone Hollow???? Or even one of the cul-de-sacs before/after the school depending on which direction they're going.

Hillside dropoff is a little crazy every day, made a little worse this year because they pushed back door opening time from 7:30AM to 7:35AM. Of course we still have the same old culprits bypassing the "drop off at the curb" line (they pass all who are patiently waiting their turn) who drive up to Ellzey/Lefevre Inn intersection to drop their kids off.

What drives me totally nuts are the folks dropping their kids off at Hillside, but don't bother turning on Ellzey; they will stop on Claiborne and drop their kids off just passed the tunnel. Who in their right mind comes to a complete stop on Clairborne to drop off their kids!?!?!

Selfish, inconsiderate people who only think about their own convenience?

Try living near it and having everyone 3 pt turn in your driveway every morning. :angryfire: We watch the u-turners every day. There is a close call daily right in front of our house. They also park in the 'No Parking' zone on Ridgeway to drop their kids off every morning. It was designated a 'No Parking' zone for a reason. It is very dangerous for the children and parents walking to school in this area.

'No Parking or Standing' zones seem like perfect candidates for traffic cameras. Catch all the "I'm just going to be a minute!" people and mail them a ticket. :)

@soccerdudes - Perhaps some traffic spikes for your driveway? I'm kind of joking...but mostly not.

Haha! The gal at the Tractor Supply Store in Leesburg suggested we string up barbed wire. I told her that would be a little dangerous for the kids/dogs walking by.

If you're home, every morning before drop off time park your car in the driveway. Or use cones? Although I like the barbed wire idea...

here's the solution: TOLL IT. charge 25 cents to access the driveway for the turnaround, then raise it to 75 cents by the end of the school year. loudouners are used to it- won't even PHASE 'em! :pofl:

Capricorn 1964 - Let me get this straight...you accuse someone of making a UTURN (no witnesses - correct?) you follow them home, announce where they live on a public forum, describe the kind of car they drive, again in a public venue, get their tag number and report them to the police and then call them an Assh@t in a neighborhood posting. What a kind and neighborly thing to do.

I would ask the administrators of these forums to take this post down since it contains personal information about a person living in this neighborhood.

I didn't see any specific information in the OP's post. A "dark, honda SUV" could be anybody. "Lives a block from school" could be any house, there's no address or even street name in the post. And anybody who makes a u-turn on a busy neighborhood street, in front of a school, definitely had a lot of witnesses. It's pretty neighborly to report dangerous driving to the police; an effort to keep our streets safe for the kids trying to get to school. Now the name-calling may have been a bit over-the-top, but kind of understandable given the frustration level of the OP.....

UGH. There was a long line for tardy slips that day (according to my daughter who was in the line). I saw another person drive their kid one block to school; really wish there was a solution to the mess there, especially on rainy days.

Edited to add: I don't think OP said anything about "following" anybody. Probably saw them turn into the driveway on the way out of the mess.

My kids both said there was a very long line for the tardy slips. But they were happy they were on the bus (that was delayed getting in too) and weren't considered tardy. Part of the problem is that some of the buses arrive to the school right at the bell so parents drive their kids thereby perpetuating the issue.

I agree with Cobymom. This post is benign and could belong to anyone. Feeling guilty? :rolleyes3:
