I don't think Indian restaurants have beef dishes.

May be you already know this... yesterday I noticed 'The Curry Club' sign is gone (next to Embassy Suites on Waxpool road).

Oooo, you're probably right. I was probably thinking of Chinese menus.

    gb10,

Thanks for the run down - this really helps. While I'm pretty adventurous when it comes to food, the rest of the family is a little (some a lot) more conservative. This definitely gives me something to work with in trying to get them to an Indian restaurant.

Much appreciated and have a great week!

Try the tikka masala..... Not spicy, saucy, chicken dish.... Great with some naan bread

Thank you - you too! Glad it was helpful. Another not-too-adventurous favorite of my family's is the Saag dishes (spinach - if you like spinach, of course). Many Indian places will have a plain Saag under the vegetables (or Palak Paneer) as well as chicken and lamb saag. This gives a good introduction to the Indian flavor but in a sort of "creamed spinach" dish.

    Enjoy!

We went to Saffron's for the lunch buffet today and it was very good. Not a lot of variety yet, but i expect that to grow with the crowd. They had Butter chicken, tandoori chicken goat curry, chicken jhafrezi, Rice and lemon rice, sambar, and a couple of other vegetable dishes. They brought naan and papadum to the table as well as a stuffed dosa. I think we found our new lunch spot!

We ordered takeout tonight, and were really pleased. We got chicken bhunna masala and paneer makhani (and naan and papadums and chutney), and everything was very good. Banjara is where we would usually go for Indian food, and this place is on par with that. They've also done a really nice job with the interior - we're definitely looking forward to dining in when we can. We're really hoping that word gets out about this place, and that they succeed.

$11 ? For a weekend buffet? That's a good price. Usually, weekdays price will be lower than weekend price.

Got to give it a try soon.

Paid $11 today (Thursday). Two rice dishes, three chicken dishes, and eight or ten vegetable dishes to choose from. Plus a small salad/sauce/chutney table. I thought it was all yummy. Food wasn't quite hot enough but that's hard to do in those buffet warmers.

Anyone know Saffron's website so I can view the menu? We are longtime Banjara diners but our last takeout order was bland so open to new options.
