I am so happy that Loudoun is finally getting a Lotte and super happy it's coming to Ashburn. I was getting sick of driving to Gallowsor Fairfax City.

IMHO: Lotte has the best selection & superior quality of produce and seafood. Don't get me wrong Global or Grand Mart is okay in a pinch, but their quality is no where near close to Lotte, especially for fruit.

I think I read on their website, the Ashburn Grand Opening is in Late Sept.

I haven't been to the old Bloom location in almost 8 years. I don't recall it being really big. I'm curious to see how different it will be in regards to their Chantilly location which is HUGE. Either way, glad they'll be close to us now!

What's the difference between this franchise and Global Foods in Ashburn Farms?

    I am excited too.
I am more than happy to go to Global Foods, but there's something to be said about a "nice" Asian market.
I hope it's like the one in Chantilly. I always call it the Wegmans of Asian markets.
We are so spoiled with all of the nice grocery stores that I feel kind of snobby when I go into one that's not as bright and shiny and then subsequently dislike it. I'm hoping that if I keep that to myself and don't say it out loud it doesn't make me a stereotypical NOVA person lol!!!
Thing is though, when a store is put together well and it presents itself as welcoming, that makes all the difference in the world. That's kind of the feel you get at the Lotte in Chantilly.
    Can't wait!!
I hope wasabi peas are on sale. ;)

I went today and was a little bit crazy...but should calm down in a few days. Funniest thing was the parking lot at the entire center was packed.....haven't seen that in years! I think they are going to do a brisk business and should do very well in our area......

We went a couple of days ago and noticed a packed parking lot too! So nice to see. Still plenty of parking though.
I kind of had to rush through because my kids don't like going to Asian markets (but seem to really like yan yan lol).
    Some things of note--
    Red Delicious apples .79/lb
    big container of blackberries .99
    regular strawberries container .79
    pineapples .99

Interesting things--they have "fresh" pistachios. They are almost like coconuts where there's a skin that needs to be peeled off.
Nice fish area with lots of different kinds of shrimp. There was a pink kind that was something like 4.99/lb and they were large, but they kind of looked off or dry or something.
Champagne grapes which were neat; very small.
A few different types of plums that I'd never seen.
Lots of different kinds of fruits and vegetables and it all looked good. I hope it stays that way!

I was disappointed in the bakery. I like Chinese sponge cake and they had none. However not many Asian markets do. They have a bakery display case with cake and a few other kinds of pastries but not much.
Lotte Plaza in Chantilly has fresh donuts which would have been cool but oh well!! Also no eatery.

I've never really browsed the tofu section of an Asian market, but I did not see any extra/super firm tofu. Only soft, silken, and firm. I recently found that Trader Joes sells an extra super firm tofu in a tightly sealed package and I love that because you don't really need to drain it if you're going to use it in a stir fry type of a dish where you want the tofu somewhat dry/firm. But--the prices were extremely reasonable.

Didn't look too closely at the meat, but seemed priced close to what other Asian markets sell for. They do have chicken breath which I've never seen before ;o)

I don't know how long the cheap pineapple/blackberries will last so get out there before the week is over!!!

Thanks for posting this information. The price for the berries is ridiculously low...and to think I pay almost $3 more for organic

I might just be naive, but I didn't think we imported things like blackberries from other countries? Bananas, yeah... Berries? Perhaps! That would be interesting! Although if so, why so cheap?
They're huge too! Pretty good. I've had sweeter but they still have a good flavor and I'll go back for more.
My "rule" is that I don't pay more than $2 for berries, mostly because you want to always buy more than one (one is never enough). I feel like I got $12 worth of berries!

And why is no one ever happy at Asian markets! I'm like THRILLED every single time and everyone else is all "meh". Is it just me!?
