Battery Back-up Sump Pump

    Anyone every get a battery back-up sump pump installed? If so, any recommendations on what company to use?

    It was on my pre-Sandy list, just didn't make it happen.

    I'm leaning on going the water-powered backup route. The battery ones require maintenance or a more expensive battery, and need to be replaced every few years. I get lazy on that stuff, so didn't want 4 years to go by, and realize my battery is worthless when I need it.

    I talked to Wacker over the last few weeks about options. They didn't highly recommend the water powered backups but would install one I got at their hourly rate. They have a fixed price parts and labor for a combo primary/backup/battery deal that seems expensive if you have a good working primary already. Note they use the Gel maintenance free batteries which are a few hundred by themselves, so if you are looking for the whole deal, I might go that route.

    I know a poster or two on here had previously done the water powered option, would be curious to who they used, and what kind they got.
