It looks like Glory Days has closed and we have another Ashburn restaurant that couldn't survive. I hate to see them go because they were pretty good about working with sports teams in the area but on the other hand I'm not too surprised.

They didn't survive because the food sucked. If you serve good food you have a great chance of staying open in Ashburn.

Exactly! Look at Ford's Fish Shack! They took over a previously cursed spot and turned it around.

Yup. Serve great food at a fair price = survival.

Serve terrible food (no matter how much you support the community) = struggle.

consistent mediocrity last a long time here too. as long as people can COUNT on it- if it doesn't cause food poisoning and tastes gawdawful, even a so so place that is ALWAYS soso can stick around... we have PLENTY o' that around here. but it's great to see excellent food last:
    Fords Fish Shack
Mezza Grill- horrible new location, still doing briask biz
    Cafe Opera
    Parallel Wine Bistro
    All American Steakhouse

just a few of our consistent faves that rarely let is down...

The Rubino's gets lots of business and is mediocre food. Same with the steakhouse.

I add Mali Thai, Pho Bistro for consistently good food and/or service.

True. I can't imagine spending money to go out myself if I knew the food would be mediocre. But I'm sure others do just that. Clyde's comes to mind for that business model.

Parallel, though, is another great business. Good food, great wine selection, fair prices, really unique experience (for Ashburn, anyway).

Clydes food is not very good IMO. In fact I can't think of any really good food around here at all.

I wish Melt and Fireworks would open locations in Ashburn.

horrible food and terrible service which was a shame because in nice weather it was perfect to eat outside with the kiddos.

That spot will not do well with mediocre food, slow bar and bad service. But I wouldnt write it off as a destination spot. Whoever moves in there needs to do something different. Hard Times Cafe would probably do well there or something like parallel or Vintage 50. Even a good Irish Pub (like Sine or Ri-Ra) would do well in that spot. But no one is going to go out that way for bland boring blah.

Would love a Hard Times. Herndon was always a trip, but that one is gone too. There's just not one within a reasonable driving distance.

Leesburg has some great restaurants, hope one of them branch out and try to open here in Ashburn.

Melt, Deli South, Fireworks, South Street Under, Tusky's. The list goes on...
