Wall on the Greenway

    Does anyone know what the wall is for that is being built in the median of the Greenway near exit 7?

    Dulles District Supervisor Letourneau answered this on a Brambleton thread: "The structure in the median is a support beam for a bridge to be built in the future that will connect future development at Barrister/State St with future development east of the Greenway. The beam is being built by the owners of the Greenway. It will be much cheaper and easier to build it now, before any site work is done for Metro, which is why they are doing it. There are very significant development plans on both sides of the Greenway and that vehicle bridge is part of those site plans."

    It's being built now because it's a good justification to raise rates. If they waited until the Metro got out here, they'd miss out on years of higher revenue.

    more like.. 'land grab' and pushing down any profits they would have to report.

    Building it before the metro is awarded probably grandfathers their location meaning a cheaper bridge today than it would be later when they would have to build around the metro.

    maybe the greenway owners can charge a toll to go over the bridge ;)
