Wintergreen has had the longest run on the East coast for years. We do a many-family trip there every year and stay in nearby Waynesboro. We take over the hotel indoor pool and lobby area, order pizza and Outback for dinner, drink and let the kids run amok.

If you are staying the night, then you have to go to Wisp! It is only a 2:40 drive, and it is always a winter wonderland there. If it is only a day trip, I'd go to Liberty or Whitetail, which are both about 1:30 away.

Oh, and Wisp has been open for a while. Don't think the others are open yet.

Liberty mountain at boulder ridge is fantastic. Kids from 2 yr old are able to snow tube (2-4 have their own special "mountain) . Its in pa but not an tiresome journey by any means.

As an experienced Massanuttener, I can tell you that it happens frequently.

I've only ever been to Wisp for snow-tubing. Worth the trip.
