the sign i saw at costco said Frasier Firs...6-7 footers. 35 bucks isn't a bad price...but i needed a taller tree, which is why i went elsewhere.

    We love Ticonderoga Farms!

Yes, but this year Snickers prices start at $75 for any tree up to 7' (more for taller ones).

I thought that was a pretty stiff price increase... last year was around $50.

We've been going to Milltown Creek Tree Farm. Bought a 10' Douglas Fir from them last Saturday for $30. It was pre-cut, but pre-cut from their farm. Normally, we would have gone out to the field and cut it ourselves, but son was OK with not lying in the snow with a saw!

You might want to try Moose Apple. http://www.mooseapplechristmastreefarm.com/

They are just over the mountain from Snickers Gap (less than 10 minutes), but a LOT cheaper. They had a really nice selection of trees when we were there last weekend.

I have a flyer from Belmont Station Elementary School for a fundraiser they're doing together so I considered going there to help them out. But it seems so far! Is it good enough for a 45 minute drive to get there?

Yes. It is a easy drive and they had a really good selection. All the trees were shaped nicely and full. They were 40 to 55 dollars depending on the kind that you wanted.

We went to Moose Apple Christmas Tree Farm and it was, in fact, worth the drive. It's a beautiful location with several acres of beautiful trees. The trees were in great condition with full and healthy looking branches. For $55 we got an approximately 8' norway spruce. The store is nice, too.
