Sorry tried to upload Plan 7 for you to see, but it's size exceeded the limit. Check out http://www.lcps.org/site/Default.aspx?PageID=1094 for a list of the current and existing Plans up for adoption.

According to the map of Plan 7, it appears that DN44a will attend Hillside. Isn't DN44a part of Broadlands or is that the condos/apartments and separate?

I would think that a new school somewhere near Martin's Chase along Evergreen Mills would be a good location. I'm not an expert on that immediate area but it seems like that area has a lot of growth. Would that ever be incorporated into the Leesburg district rather than the Dulles North?

Maybe along Belmont Ridge north of Moreland Estates and on the same side of BR would be good.

It is an apartment complex within Broadlands. Residents there are not members of the Broadlands HOA.

There is, I believe, a Brambleton school site in the western portion of Brambleton, closer to Evergreen Mill. That site will help with the Brambleton growth, but I think the site is a ways off from being developable.
I think you have to go pretty far north on Evergreen Mills to get to the Leesburg District.

Cliff, did Kevin elaborate on the specific location of the school site they are considering? If one looks south and east of Broadlands, we already have Moorefield Station under construction, and Rosa Lee Carter existing. Any further south and east (while remaining in the Dulles North planning zone) puts you almost on airport property.

Just curious to know your rationale for why, given the proposed location for the new school, one of the proposed plans puts Southern Walk at greater risk of future redistricting.

Do to the expected continued growth of Loudoun Station, Moorefield Station and some smaller projects around Loudoun Valley Estates area. Also, growth of One Loudoun may push kids south to Discovery and some of Discovery south.
A school built south or southeast of Broadlands would endanger SoutherWalk. A school southwest of Broadlands might impact the western portions.
It's my belief that Plan 7 will keep us off the chopping block for good.

probably us being on the hotseat again in the next round because of crowding.

Don't confuse people's happiness with 'we didn't get moved' (a personal victory) with victory for longevity or stability.

    Steve/Terelli,

Please don't be so derogatory after so many in this community pulled together & worked really hard for a successful outcome. It's true our numbers are still high, but this was a true win, and our community numbers should decrease as we age out. Rome wasn't built in a day!

Numbers going down at some point in the future many years from now don't help my kids at all.

The numbers at Mill Run mean that the school can bring in additional administrative help - not at Hillside where they were screwed over by our Mill Run neighbors. Hillside's numbers will be over capacity as I was told "in order to bring parity between the two schools", yet they aren't high enough for extra staffing. It hurts in terms of special education, SOL testing and a myriad of other areas.

I just do not get the emotional investment that some PARENTS get towards an elementary school. When this all started we asked our son (MR 4th grade) if he cared where he (and immediate friends) went to school and he said "not really, it is not like I play with my friends during school hours". Personally, I would have been happier with smaller class sizes then what there will be at MR.
