Its a great choice if you don't care about 3D - its not the brightest projector but 2D is supposed to be excellent.

Correct, for me I wanted the best 2d experience, 3d to me is still far from perfect and wearing a pair of glasses just distracts from the overall movie watching experience.

I can't do next week since my Dad is in town and then the following week I'm off to Austin, perhaps end of the month early Dec.

Stay safe, I hear there is a storm on the way

I'm with EX .. I get motion sickness and 3D is of no value. I feel it takes away more than it adds to the experience, but that's my opinion. For TV, the claim the demand is so low it can't be measured .. http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2012/09...+foxnews/scitech+(Internal+-+SciTech+-+Mixed)

With that the RS45 would be my choice today; however the new HW50 and the RS46 could make it more interesting (maybe even the 8000U). I've seen the RS45 and having the native constrast and no dynamic IRIS (to hear or see). It looks CRT-ish. Very nice.

EX - you might want to take the projector down so that you don't get dust in it while they finish up. Get dust inside on the panel and well .. bad stuff. At least wrap it in a trash bag.

btw - I think 3D will be really cool for gaming (again unfortunately not for me).

I'm the opposite; I enjoy the extra aspect of 3D... its not for everyone. I thought about a twin setup to allow passive but I think my next projector will be the 5020ub - If I can find a spot to put it.

Awesome! Autumn rolled in and threw me into a brick wall. Still at framing stage myself, trying to figure out a strategy for implementing surround since the room is a rectangle about 40 by 16 or so. Thinking about building columns around the viewing space ... Thinking give me good accuracy but will partition the space into 3 mIni rooms...

Without doing a full column, maybe your could do an apron of sorts that defines the space on the ceiling but doesn't physically divide the room. With the right angle, you could get 7.1 to work this way. For a single row of seats, direct radiating speakers would work well in this configuration. You could then do a tray type ceiling w/ rope lights .. defining that space as the "media area". Just a thought.

That would allow me to get through my inspections, focus on some of this post-mortem, and make my wife a bit happier in the process :) I like it, thanks for the idea...

HOMETHEATERGUY - What do you charge for programing a URC remote? I would love to DIY a MX-780 but having trouble getting my hands on the software since they want to be all 'exclusive' and not provide the software. Basic setup - tv, sat, dvr and appletv. Would probably use a RF base station. You can PM me if you like. I'm just looking for a range $x-$y.

Ex ... How's it coming? I haven't had to call the cops, so you must not be operational yet *smile*

Also, b/c you are running 2.35 w/o an anamorphic lens, how are you going to black out the bleed. Are you doing some fabric masking?

I've got the itch but don't know what to do next ....

CP, here's another teaser (btw the carpet appears brighter than it actually is).
Seats ordered, just leaves the Ascends and Rhythmic.

    Happy holidays!

So in my transition to a new acoustically transparent (AT) screen, I have a 16:9 (HDTV sized) screen available for sale. Its a 110" diagonal Carada screen with Criterion frame and 1.4 gain Brilliant White material (probably closer to 1.2 gain in real life). This is a fixed aluminum frame (not a retractable). Its in excellent condition, ready to hang on the wall. Currently the screen is just over $900 if purchased new. I'm asking $380. pauley71@gmail.com
