Not sure if this street is listed as VDOT or HOA but either way, shouldn't this street be weather treated like Claiborne and Chickacoan considering all the school traffic? I thought it was quite icy yesterday and today and I hate to drive that road with all the little kiddies around even at a crawling pace. Anyone else agree? I haven't gotten great responses before contacting VDOT but maybe if the HOA asked them or the school? Thoughts?

This street is a VDOT street. My suggestion is if you want an answer from VDOT - go to their website and look up the email address of the head guy - it's listed. He generally responds quite well.

The southern side of Claiborne (Southern Walk area) once again remained untreated yesterday. That is where the dividing line is for the Leesburg and Aldie districts and Aldie overlooks Claiborne.

I hope they don't treat it like Chickacoan- that street is always in horrbile shape when it snows. I live off of it- a sheet of ice with mounds of snow here and there... glad driving in Nebraska snow has prepared me for Virginia plowing mediocrity. :)

Ellzey was ridiculous this morning. As I sat at the stop sign waiting to turn onto Claiborne, I just kept thinking that someone was going to slide down the hill into the car in front of them and guess what? I looked in the rear view mirror and that is exactly what happened. I was really disappointed that it was left untreated as were most of the neighborhood streets, however, considering that's where the school is, it should be a priority.

Southern Walk was horrible. As I hit my breaks for the stop sign at the bottom of Stone Hollow & Claiborne, I almost slid right into traffic along the sheet of ice right in the dip of the road. This was at noon.

SW evidently requires a Special Assessment for road clearing.. hold on to your hats.

Shim - I don't think you lived in SW when the BHOA (not the SW HOA) assessed a special assessment for snow removal, thanks to the record breaking-Snowmaggedon.

While other Broadlands VDOT streets & the streets maintained by Van Metre waited days and in some cases weeks for a VDOT snow plow, our street (along with all the other HOA streets) were plowed and treated far faster than VDOT streets.
The benefit of having the HOA plow the streets, is there is a great deal more accountability & the HOA contractor is far more responsive than VDOT. Sure it cost more, but it's worth every penny.

Sorry I forgot to add the new VDOT site (see link below), you can submit a report, monitor (in near real time via GPS) VDOT trucks, road conditions etc.
