I believe the motor in my GE side by side refrigerator is going bad. Has anyone had any success with a local repair man? Thank you for your help.

We ran in to a similar issues, before we finally gave up on our GE S/S. We have used Sterling Appliance for several of our GE appliances and were pleased with their services. Sterling Appliance's # is 703-450-5453, ask for Mark or John.

But here's a tip, if your freezer is warm on the bottom or fridge is warm on the top, it's possible the mother board is fried. The replacement part is pretty cheap and you can purchase it via Tribles, Inc (506 Shaw Road) 703-435-7515. Hope that helps

Just a quick question....why do you think your motor is going bad?

I ask because mine is making a much louder noticable sound and am wondering if I just never really paid attention before or this is the beginning on the end. Everything is still cold where it should be and frozen where it should be, but of all the fridges I've owned over the years I've never really been able to her one run before........

We've use the appliance repair from sears, even for our non sears appliance. They do a good job.

Not sure if this will help or not, I spent a fair amount of time fixing our Maytag but has worked fine since for the last 3 years.

The motor occasionally will make a bit of a sound on startup, but does not affect the operation. Fridge is getting on 15 years old now.

We've always used Alan Gaitley at Old Dominion Appliance Repair.

    (703) 754-8500

    Great guy. Excellent work.

It started making a ridiculously loud noise, and we noticed that it was always running a few degrees higher than usual. We ended up using Apple Appliance, and received same day service.
