Our Sprint phones have not been working well with frequent dropped calls etc., for weeks now. I have contaced Sprint numerous times, and the repair dates for a tower near Claiborne and the Greenway keep changing and I no longer trust that repairs are even being made. Please call them to complain if you are having simlar issues. There is also an active thread on the Sprint website:

I noticed the same thing. Never had a problem using my phone at home and now the calls either drop or go in and out. I also noticed more dropped calls around the Fairfax County Parkway. I talked with a guy at the Sprint store in Fair Oaks Mall and he said they recently did an upgrade and that could be the reason. Some upgrade! I will call.

We've been having issues over the last month also. I'll report them to Sprint also.

I just got off the phone with a Sprint supervisor. After a lengthy conversation about the issues with service in this area, I learned that the problems are now all with the tower at the Greenway exit off Claiborne. There are 3 issues to be exact - the first 2 are to be fixed on Feb. 16 and the last on Feb 19. I also let her know how disappointed i am with Sprint service and the increased number of dropped calls in general. I asked for a credit to my bill and she gave me a $15 "inconvenience credit" -said it was the best she was authorized to do.

My contract is up in August this year and I am seriously thinking of switching. I always thought Sprint had the best prices/pans and never had any real issues with service. I have been with them since they were Sprint Spectrum. Will have to wait and see what happens on the 19th.

I switched from AT&T to Sprint just to save a few $$$ and regret every day of it. The problems we are experiencing here where we live are the same problems I experience as I go around the beltway. I've never had so many problems so often. I am definately leaving Sprint as soon as my contract is up.........

Just got off the phone with Sprint and there's still no ETA on repairing the tower at Ashburn Rd. Evidently they were upgrading it to 4G (from 3G) by installing a new fiber backhaul circuit. This has been open for over two weeks now... very frustrating.

Sprint is in the process of upgrading their towers to 4g. Once it's done service will be great. On one of the new towers I had 14 megs down and 4 up.

I get 4G at my sister's house in Springfield and right outside my office in Crystal City. I don't mind going through some growing pains for a little while to get better service.

Problems is that when there are growing pains there is a point where the pain stops. Doesn't appear that is the case with Sprint. I had 4G at my workplace for two months and then there were tower problems. They just got 3G back after three weeks!

I think the biggest problem with Sprint is they are very inconsistant from location to location throughout the DC area and don't have the resources to quickly correct issues when they come up. If your home and/or workplace has good reception you'll probably be happy with them. If you traverse the metro area then you'll be amazed by the loss of data and dropped calls ......
