If we can't make it ...is there an email address where we can voice our concern?

e-mail is probably the least effective way to communicate with an elected official. Best is to call them and (since they are probably not in the office when you call), leave your number and ask that they call you back. You'd be surprised how very few people do that, so a return call is not that much to ask for. If/when your supervisor does call you back, don't keep them on the phone forever, but tell them what you want from them and why you want it, then ask what they're ready to commit to. It's also helpful if you thank them for something (anything, really; just don't be purely needy, you know?).

If you do use e-mail, don't use bos@loudoun.gov, or any other group address. Use their individual addresses and take the time to address each one by name (Dear Sup. Williams, Dear Scott, etc.). To the person reading it, there is a big difference between a message that is, in effect, addressed to "Resident," and one sent to the recipient as an individual.

Their addresses are here: http://loudoun.gov/index.aspx?nid=2178. To call them, call 703-777-0204 and ask for the office of the supervisor you want. I would advise not spending time on the "comment line" phone number, as that collects all comments from the entire county. Unlikely that a supervisor will ever listen to them all, since most will be primarily interested in the view of their own district constituents, not those of seven others. (County staff does summarize those comments, but why bother to call at all if you're just going to be aggregated into a statistic?)

Seriously: ask them to call you. Local elected officials actually welcome the chance to converse with their constituents much more than one-way communications.
