Need Help! Laptop not booting

    Our antivirus said it detected malware and that we had to restart the computer.....upon doing so it will not boot.

    It is running windows 8.

    Does anybody have a. Recommendation for repair?

    Boot into Safe Mode and restore to a previous state.

    Thanks.. Safe mode is hard to find in windows 8

    Do not have a Windows 8 machine (yet... actually started shopping this weekend for a new box) so I did not realize that it isn't simple anymore.

    What you need to do is, past the BIOS splash screen, hold down the Shift key and repeatedly hit the F8 key. Doing so should get you to the recovery mode, but it might take a few tries before you achieve that.

    Boot into Safemode

    Safemode = Linux Mint :)
