To the woman with long dark hair driving the dark green late-model Honda Accord, tag J**-5**9 at about 7:45 this morning, a couple of things:

    1. When the lights are flashing on Claiborne in the Hillside school zone the speed limit is 25, not 45. That's why it was so easy for you to weave in and out of the cars and get by them - they were all doing 25, including me.

    2. You kiss your grandma with that mouth? Nice.

By the way you then sped off down Claiborne weaving in and out of traffic and tailgating every car in front of you to try to get by, I suspect this wasn't a momentary loss of concentration, it's just how you drive.

I don't expect for a moment you would see this, but I hope someone who knows you does, and helps you learn to slow down a little before something bad happens.

    Have a blessed day.

I drop off the kids every morning and speeding is a regular occurance for some people in that school zone. I've called the Sheriff's line, they post a car, everyone slows down for that day, next day back up to speed.

...and many times it's the parents dropping off their kids!

If they are doing 45 in a 25, then it is reckless driving. Any state resident has the ability to go to the magistrate and file a criminal complaint against the person. If you have evidence of the crime (i.e. video, witnesses, an admission of the crime etc) take them to court. Penatly is up to $2500 fine, 10 days in jail, and license suspension. I'm sure there are also other sections of code that they can be charged with since it is a school zone.

I have submitted two in the past and never received a reply. Hopefully they made note of the models and plate numbers I submitted.

Keep calling. I've seen them pull over several cars over the years when they are out during dropoff times.

My report was relatively recent, within the last month or so, if I remember correctly.

If they receive several complaints about a particular school zone they will most likely patrol it a bit more often.

Thanks all. I've used the report site before when someone in front of me took off on a red light at Claiborne/Broadlands Blvd and barely missed taking the front off a car turning left onto Broadlands which DID have the green light. Never heard back but expect they did a BOLO.

What upset me here was that the woman's response to being alerted that she was speeding (I beeped my horn) was to flip out at me. You don't have to be a great lip-reader to know what she was screaming either...

It truly is a waste of your time to do this... I had someone call on me once when I had no idea what they were talking about or what I did. I just told the person that called that the caller was the one with the problem and that they were the one driving recklessly...they just had a chance to call before me....

Unless there is a video or something, its one persons word verses another.......

Uh...and if the cops asked you what the callers license plate number was, etc...and you couldnt give that info to them, then why would the caller have your license plate number, color of your car, etc as well as the location of incident, etc. whereas you dont have their info....???? Just wonderin'

They didn't ask...... I guess I'd say I didn't do what I was accused of and its probably someone trying to get back at me for some reason..... Point I was trying to make its one citizens word verses another. If you want the police to actually do something you need proof.....

If you had been guilty of driving recklessly, do you think a call from the sheriff's department would make you think twice about your driving habits in the future? I've made sure that both my kids know that they can be reported to the police by an observer even if there is no police presence, and I'm hoping that makes them think twice about how they drive once they get their license. (I'm thinking about getting a "How's my driving?" sticker for any car they drive :)
