I am heading to DC next Saturday morning and plan to take the metro from Ballston. I am not familiar with that area at all...does anyone have any suggestions for a good place to park that is near the Ballston metro station?

Metered parking is available on the streets nearby. Garage parking is available at the Ballston Common mall.

Free parking at East Falls Church Metro Station on the weekends. If your coming from Ashburn it is the most convenient station anyway. If you are coming from Ballston it is only about a 3 minute drive west.

Bear - I am coming from Ashburn, but next Saturday (5/11) the first 4 stations on the orange line are closed due to track work...the first one that's open is Ballston. I know they have shuttle buses from the closed stations to Ballston but I thought that would be a hassle. But now that I know East Falls Church is so close to Ballston, I may just go that route....is there generally plenty of parking there on weekends?

That is a hassle. There is usually plenty of parking there, and if the station is closed I'd be even more confident. Hope they run plenty of shuttles, because if they don't I'd just park at Ballston like you were thinking.

If it were me I'd drive to Ballston and park there so I didn't have to worry about the shuttle bus. That said, there are 422 spots at the East Falls Church station. Here's a link to the parking info for the East Falls Church station:

Oh, and here's a link to the Real Time Arrivals information. You can look up the station and see when the next train is due to arrive (in real time, not just by schedule). You can also download apps that give you Metro info.

While there are many parking spots at East Falls Church, the last time Metro did track work on a weekend there were no spots left at East Falls Church by 10am and we ended up driving to Ballston where there are plenty of options from on street to garages. Most garages will cost $7 or so for all day on Saturday some may be cheaper.

Thank you for all of the info! I think we will be going to Ballston and parking there. I don't mind paying for garage parking to avoid that shuttle bus hassle!

Park at Ballston Commons mall. It's easy and cheap and you have a covered walkway to Metro if you experience bad weather.
