We have been customers of Cafe Opera for years now - occasionally dine in, mostly take out.

We ordered take out last night for the first time in a few months and it was excellent. My wife was told it would be ready in 15 minutes and I arrived about just over 10 minutes later on my way home expecting to wait, but the food came out almost immediately.

The dishes were piping hot and tasty, the portions were great and the service was the same high standard that we've always had from there; no matter how long it is since we've been in, the owner always remembers the little details about our family that show that they really do care.

Speaking personally I wouldn't bother going anywhere else for Asian food. We loved the sadly-departed Anothai too, but Cafe Opera is the only restaurant our eldest picks if we give her a choice.

No, nor do I expect one. Why do you ask?

Because Shim hates Cafe Opera. Quotes from his previous posts in this thread:

He's entitled to his opinion, but so is everyone else who still enjoys Cafe Opera and thinks they're a great restaurant.

Shim, I'm not getting any free egg rolls for this post either

Interesting. I saw some of these posts a while back, but as I said we hadn't been for a while. When the experience was the same good one we've had before, I thought it only fair to note that here.

I guess for some people you can only have a differing opinion to them if you are either 'on the payroll' or foolish. Whatever.

Quite frankly, I have NEVER had a bad meal there. Not one, since they opened. And I'm a regular...once a week on average.

Opera is pretty good; Not Cheng's, but above average. You'll take it on the Chin Chin if you go there - had our first, and last visit there tonight. We should have guessed beforehand why it was empty at 7:30 on a Friday night.
