In the middle of our backyard, often times in the spring through the summer, there are a lot of swarming little tiny bugs/gnats in the air.... not near a tree, just all over the yard in the air... does anyone else have that issue? How do you make them go away, if at all? I realize that summer brings more bugs, but I wasn't sure if anyone else had this particular issue... I've heard citronelle candles on decks, etc.. but it isn't like they are hanging around one particular area.... any advice?

They're harmless...just an annoyance and make you look loopy when you swat at them. The no-see-ums bother me the most.

My hubby and I were just discussing this, as we do every spring. They are beyond a nuisance. They end up in our mouths while talking, and I've had a few get into my eye a few times.

Anyone have a safe method of getting rid of these things? Or do we have to call pest control?

We use fabric softener sheets....boys put them under their baseball hats, I rub them on my daughter's hair and shoulders. Seems to repel them well.
