He came to our door a few days ago. I never answer the door to people I don't know, but my husband didn't think and answered the door. The guy was on the phone and actually had the nerve to hold up his finger, telling my husband to wait a sec and continued his conversation. The nerve! My husband then shut the door in his face.

I just find it down right rude when people solicit.

Brit - It's possible you had a different "bug guy" but the one who accosted me today said that his name was Logan ..... sketchy to say the least (perhaps using different names?). When he used the standard solicitation scam line "We've had a few cancellations today so we can stop by later to see what we can do for you" (i.e. tell me your schedule so I can get a better peek at your property and home when I come back) I knew it was time to call the cops!! Scary.

This weekend we had a woman come to our door and ask if we wanted to rent out our basement. We said no and she thanked us and left. Seems odd - who goes door to door looking to rent a basement?

Neighbors a few houses down had a woman ask them too.

And the hubby is a huge Flyers fan also. Coincidence??!!! ;)

Are you in a TH or SFH? If I see her I will get her name and telephone number so that I can let her know when I hear of something that becomes available in the neighborhood. ;)

Yea, I'm the one from the Brambleton Forum that was quoted. She was at my place on Monday evening. I didn't get home from work until 7pm and she had just been there. Wife said she was a heavy set blonde lady. I hate solicitors and will make it quite clear that they are trespassing when they come up my driveway. The whole "are you renting your basement" thing is just weird and sounds like a good reason to case the house. Luckily I wasn't home. Not good to case the house of a Federal Officer. By the way, great av. Go Flyers!

She visited us, too. Are there two women looking for rentals? The woman who came to my door isn't the one in the picture.

The rental lady visited us this past weekend. Pouring rain, she rings the bell. We figured it was Taterman's kid coming to play. My wife answered, she asked if we would rent her the basement. Odd indeed. Wife told her no and she left. Not the (Moxie) lady in the picture. My wife said something about her mentioning she wanted to stay in the area. May be tough times or casing the joint. Who knows. And yes Go Flyers!!!

I just put up a cute no soliciting decal on my front door. I'm hoping it will discourage solicitors, but I'm not especially optimistic.

LOL, I've had one by our doorbell for the past 3-4 years. They still ring the doorbell and when I ask if they read the sign, most say "But I'm not here to sell you anything." and then they proceed to try and sell me something...

I wonder if there is a market for a door bell button with a small speaker that says "not interested"?

I got three bug solicitators within 1.5 weeks and they all say the same thing almost word for word and are from different companies, "We are in the area, and worked with few of your neighbors already, and will be inspecting homes for pests, bugs and spiders, and all three of them ask "will you be home tommorrow?"

What if I said: "No, I will not be home."

They would probably come by and break in my house and jack my stuff. :signsnono:

I told them that my HOA treats my property with pesticides and it's included in the HOA fee that I pay, so I am not interested in double paying. :2thumbs:

    Annoying and very suspect!

Last night around 8:30 --way after dark but just before the rain, someone knocked on our door. I opened the side window and it was a tall young-ish white guy pointing at his Moxie shirt. Its pitch black outside and I'm going to talk to you and open my door for a discussion about pest control? Weird. I sent him away. He just came back again and my son was in the front yard and told him we were busy.

Maybe bc we live in a TH they don't solicit to us much? Our only knockers have been the Mormons, but we haven't seen them in a long time....

We had the lady looking for someone to do something nice for her (I don't get beyond that point) knock on our screen door after 9pm a week or two ago. On nice nights we leave our front door open and screen door locked but it really scared me. She wouldn't take no for an answer that I was trying to put kids to bed. I ended up closing the door on her while she was still talking. I still don't understand why they're still walking around once it's dark.
