Summer SAT Prep Seminar at Briar Woods!!

We have been asked by Briar Woods HS to hold 6 more SAT Prep seminars through the 2013-14 school year, starting on August 3rd, due to popular demand! I met with Turbo Tutoring and was very impressed. They have an interesting model that seems to be very effective at a fraction of the cost of the typical SAT prep course. TT shared with me that the average student goes up about 100 points - as one should after any test prep, in my opinion, but again, this model is different: they are doing it after just 1 class. TT also shared that it is not uncommon for students to enter that 200 jump range. That is quite impressive! I'll be sitting in on a seminar later this summer but I was impressed enough after our meeting and after reading the feedback on their site to start recommending them now.

 

We did sign up for the 1-day course. Does BWHS offer any ACT Prep courses? Other than Kaplan, is there any out there that you recommend? Thanks--

 

In my opinion, the ACT is kind of the anti-test test in that it truly is meant to assess the student's overall educational development; in theory, if a student has done well in the classroom, s/he should do well on the ACT. If you are already taking an SAT prep for some brush-up on content, that should be enough. Now, certainly any extra prep you do can't necessarily hurt-- but if you want to be time- and cost-effective, consider that an ACT prep course might not be necessary.
