A few months ago, our front lamp post started staying on all day and all night. We have tripped the GFI but it just comes back on after resetting. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions out there?

    Maybe a bad sensor.

Yes, probably the sensor. Ours was on longer and longer. Finally replaced the sensor and back to normal on/off.

I replaced my sensor a few years ago - I took it to home depot and someone was able to find a replacement part for me. Wasn't the easiest thing to find in the store.

Also check for overgrowth of bushes that block light to the sensor. I have to trim back my shrubs every year

Can anyone recommend an electrician or local "handy man" that can come and replace the light sensor on our lamp?

I highly recommend Ashburn Electric LLC, 703-969-1812. The owner and electrician is Craig Fladager. He is a broadlands resident and does excellent work. We met him when we were having trouble with our outside light. He fixed it and we have hired him on numerous occasions for custom lighting work over the past 10 years. He does not charge for consultations and he is reasonably priced, which is rare to find in this area. Over the years, Craig has installed recessed lights throughout our home. Most recently he installed 6 directional recessed lights in our vaulted ceiling master bedroom. He has also replaced our rather loud bathroom fans with quieter more efficient ones. We even hired him once to install a baker's rack for us. Not something he normally does, but he was willing and we needed someone who could do the work and make sure it would hold the weight of the rack and the pots. He does drywall and cleans up after himself. He is the best!

Thanks everyone for the input! We contacted Craig with Ashburn Electric and he replaced the sensor in our lamp post. We are doing some updates in our kitchen and Craig was able to give lighting suggestions too.
