Amazon recently launched a new version of the company's website, smile.amazon.com. Amazon will donate 0.5% of the purchase price to charity. Customers pick their charity through the new website, including Ashburn Volunteer Fire and Rescue.

Pretty much everything about the Amazon online shopping experience is supposed to be the same, including the shopping cart, wishlists, shipping options, and prices.

Any group that is registered as a 501(c)(3) organization with the IRS can sign up to receive donations from AmazonSmile. Charities can sign up through org.amazon.com.

Thanks for the heads up Kevin. I shop Amazon a lot and didn't know about this. Just selected the Fire and Rescue as my charity.

The rescue we work with is also listed. If you would like to help animals in need, please select A Forever Home Rescue Foundation. And if you are interested in a beautiful boxer mix puppy, send me a note ... we are currently fostering a litter of three.

What a bum deal for charities... you should just go through an affiliate link that the charity can set up easily and they would get 4-10% commission, instead of a measly .5%...
