Hey everyone! My wife and I are looking for preschool recommendations in the Broadlands/Brambleton area. Our older daughter went to the Goddard School in Chantilly, and we are looking for a similar, excellent experience out this way in Ashburn. Thanks in advance for any advice/places to consider.

The Ashburn Moms Club is sponsoring their annual preschool forum this saturday, Jan 18th at 9am in the Ashburn Farm HOA building. There will reps from many of the local preschools - both administrators and parents - to talk about their experiences and answer questions. There are tons of choices! Good luck!

Hi! A group of volunteers has put together the Ashburn Preschool Forum. Over 50 area schools will be there and you can get great information about hours, days, costs, etc. I have a listing of participating schools here: http://www.finditinashburn.com/ashburn-preschool-forum/

Hey Lisa - it's Dan, from Turbo Tutoring! We are out of town this weekend, unfortunately, and I saw your link, but I guess I'm looking for opinions from parents who have had experience with these full day, preschool places, rather than solely a list with the links to their webpages, although the list is certainly helpful to see the options out there....

Hi Dan! No problem! You can post the question over on our Facebook page, asking for recommendations as well.

Dan, the preschool forum is exactly what you want: Parents give a 5 minute or so talk about what they like/don't like about their child's school and whether they do or don't recommend it. It isn't the schools themselves making a presentation. It's too bad you'll be out of town but you should try to get the spreadsheet because it will give you a lot of details about how the various programs are run in a handy, easily comparable format. I've attached a copy of the one from 2011 to give you some leads.

From my experience with the preschool forum (planning and attending for a few years), if the spreadsheet shows that there was a speaker (a parent of a child attending the school) at the preschool forum, that generally means they had good things to say about the preschool. That's not a guarantee, but if someone was willing to speak about their child's school, it's very likely it was a positive recommendation. Most of the programs are half day unless they are a part of a daycare center but you'll have to check just to be sure. Good luck!

    Good luck in your search.

We had kids at the Goddard in Chantilly for a long time as well. Everyone is looking for something different, so please check some out on your own as well

Here is our experience looking in Ashburn:
    - We looked at the (relatively) new Goddard in Ashburn when it was first opening and didn't love it comparing it to Chantilly. That was a few years ago, so things may be different. Any new school always has some negatives, as they are still hiring staff, buying things, etc... They should be through all that now and you would be familiar with the program.
    - We looked at Winwood in Brambleton (the one by Briar Woods, the other near Creighton gets bad reviews). We really liked it for older kids, we were a little concerned about younger kids because of the large classes. They keep the ratios well in check and each group of kids has a primary teacher, so it's not a safety or other problem, but it was a lot of kids in one room. Long waiting list, so we didn't investigate to thoroughly, but it gets great reviews, and the people seemed great.
    - We had a kid at Primrose when it opened last year. We loved the owner and the facility is good, but there were several times when we felt it was a little too disorganized and our child wasn't developing as well as they did at Goddard. I think some of that has to due with working out the kinks in a new school. It may be better now.
-The Primrose child is now at Beantree and is extremely happy (as are we). It's probably the most expensive in the area, but if you are used to Goddard in Chantilly, I think pricing will be fairly similar, at least when factoring meals and such. Like any daycare/preschool we've seen some teacher and staff turnover, but overall we've been very happy, and would recommend it as your fist stop.

As a related note, we also love Golden Pond School. Unfortunately, they do not offer full time pre-school, but for anyone who is looking for part-time, or a full-day private Kindergarten, or an after-K program, it is definitely worth looking into.

I've heard so many compliments from friends and reviews about the Kindergarten program in Golden Pond so we registered my daughter to its Kindergarten Enrichment program the coming school year. I hope we make the right choice!

Hi, I don't know if anyone is following this thread anymore, but I'm considering applying to work at BeanTree, and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the management there (here in Ashburn). I am working on getting my Early Childhood Development degree, but a look at the center's website showed that they have positions that do not require a college degree. I'm mostly concerned with how staff are treated (as far as anyone knows)-- there aren't very many bad reviews that I've seen, but a lot of the bad ones talk about employees being treated badly in front of parents, which is making me nervous. I'd like to know what anyone thinks before committing to an interview.

Preschool is a place which provides all the fundamental facilities to children to grow and develop. So parents must send their child to a best preschool with the goal that they can build their cognitive skills, self esteem, get social communication and learn methods of being creative and confident. For preschool recommendations you can visit Melville preschool over the web.
