There is an arctic owl called the Snowy Owl that has migrated to this area that sees small dogs as prey! My Woofie's client 15 lb Jack Russell was picked up OUT of the back yard by an owl and dropped when he struggled enough. He was BADLY injured with internal injuries and lacerations. This attack happened in the Village of Waxpool.

It is NOT nocturnal- it hunts day and night, and has a a singular "hooot" vs. the "hoo-hoo" that you normally hear. I have heard this owl in the trees near my house in the Broadlands. It will be here at least until the spring- March or April. This is a picture of the ACTUAL owl that attacked him. There's more than one around here and they are fedrrally protected. IMG_1068.jpg

PLEASE SHARE THIS INFO with your friends with small dogs- this beast of an owl can carry and fly with FOUR TIMES its own weight. I friggin HATE owls.

yep. my clients dog fought and "won" even though he's badly injured. From the air the owl must have thought- hmmmm- FAT rabbit.

It is ironic that many animals are now hunting in residential areas.
    Deer love all that landscaping.
Birds and rodent-type animals love all that loose trash
And now predator animals (owls, coyotes) love all those small pets. And how nice that they are "caged" up in a fenced yard!

And I'm sure the animals are saying "how ironic that all these humans are living in our habitats and building those committee cutter soulless houses..." lol
