Clearly Windy Oaks needs another pass by the Hoa contractor. I'm surprised the Hoa doesn't have a snow plow email addy/hotline. Maybe they'll make a pass before your street freezes?

And here I thought the 36' x 20' x 11'+ snow mountain the plows created on my sidewalk was bad. At least I can see a narrow strip of asphalt on my street, not enough room for 2 cars.

So you don't count the piece of sidewalk either side of your drive? I'm having issues on where to put the stuff but I thought you had to so the path either side of your drive?

And the plowers aren't good. They've left a mess on corners - being from mass it wouldn't do.

    That plow tracker is fantastic.

I've no complaints about the snow plows, they've always done pretty well by us. Having grown up in WI though I have a different reference point - the rule there is they are allowed to bury you up to 3 feet. There also seemed to be an older Suburban driving around a few times - maybe they were checking to see how the roads were?

Even got our mail delivered around 1:30 today - although that may have been due to some "heavy duty" snow removal on the street by one of the neighbors.

Snow plow just returned (7 PM) to make another pass. The stripe is still only wide enough for 1 car, but now instead of having to clear 5 feet from driveway to stripe, I now only need to do 4 feet.

Wow people.. give them some time. I understand you wish your street was clear blacktop like another street... but no one should need reminding about how the roads are cleared in a hierarchy... and there are efforts that are first passes, with greater finesse later. Griping less than 12hrs after a major snow storm... sheez

My street is a vdot street and all we had were tire tracks through all day yesterday. Now we have the snow clear but a complete solid ice pack on the road that isn't going anywhere..

I think the BHOA contractors do a fantastic job.
Sure, some streets may not look as pretty as others but IMO, with this amount of snow, if you can get in/out of your street, then that is acceptable. Windy Oaks doesn't look as purty as some other roads but you can see some blacktop and it sure does appear that a vehicle could drive it with out much difficulty. Just sayin...

Nothing but kudos to the VDOT and BHOA plow folks. Our street was pretty much cleared by noon on Thursday. I didn't even mind the four foot pile of snow on the sidewalk that I got to shovel - couldn't make it to the gym so it was a welcomed challenge.

The only hiccup was picking up my daughter at her friend's on Great Sky Pl that hadn't been touched (still private I assume). That sucked.

My concern at this point is not the roads. Most of them are passable and well plowed, but the concern is the sidewalks. On both sides of Village Dr, the sidewalks have not been touched, and the corners have mountains of snow piled up. The children in our neighborhood all walk to Mill Run and Eagle Ridge, and I see no way for that to happen, unless they are walking in the road. The sidewalks in question are all maintained by the HOA. Do they typically have people that will come and take care of that before the kids go back to school on Tuesday, or just wait for a melt?

When I left my house a bit before noon, they were snowblowing the sidewalks along Village.

Not thrilled seeing kids walking in the street (Ridgeway) this morning on their way to school. The HOA and several homeowners on Ridgeway have failed to shovel their sidewalks. Not sure why the HOA thinks the paths along Claiborne are more important than plowing their sidewalks on Village Dr, ( path to Tunnel under Claiborne) and Ridgeway...even the sidewalk to the school crosswalk wasn't plowed. It's dangerous and it's been a full 5 days since last week's storm.

We let our children out to play in the snow and they "have at it". We take pictures and rejoice in how much fun they have.
Time to walk to school and now it is dangerous? Not to nitpick, but put boots on them and walk through the snow or drive them.

Darlin' of course my kid had snowboots on, he was wrapped up like a mini-Eskimo. My point was that section of sidewalk had snow & ice that came up to his mid thigh. However around 1pm the Hoa contractor did plow it! I'm hoping thr sun will manage to melt the ice. And by the way, I'm pretty sure if you saw me dropping my kid off, you'd give me a hard time :)

On a side note, even if I had dropped him off at school, the sidewalk on Ridgeway (immediately in front of Mill Run) hasn't been plowed by the Hoa.

So here's what it looked like after the Hoa plowed (1:15pm). Second pic what it looks like after my neighbor and I spent about 60 minutes cleaning up after the Hoa's plow job.

For some reason Ashburn Farm doesn't shovel ANY of the community sidewalks. I am surprised because I thought they were required to? A little jealous of the Broadlands and the Village right now...
