House built in 2014 - Hardwired Smoke detectors tied together.

Its been 10 years, the time most detectors are rated for and I came home last week to a chirping detector. Battery replacement didn't solve the problem so I pulled the detector down.

Started looking into replacing and FireX was bought by Kidde and of course they changed the connections in the back so that you either have to reinstall (rewire) or buy and adaptor.

I was thinking about buying the adaptor and making this a little easier but I didn't find at Home Depot. Wondered if anyone else has replaced any of these and used an adaptor and if so where you found them?
    Thanks!

Our house was built in 1996 and I replaced all 3 smoke alarms in 2010 using the adapter to make the connection. The adapter made the job quite easy.

I purchased everything from electricbargainstores.com and it looks like they still have the same items at slightly higher prices. Here is what I purchased in 2010:

    Name Code Qty Each Options
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
Firex 4618 (i4618) AC Firex-4618 3 $8.88 Smoke Alarm with Battery Back-up and False Alarm Control
Kidde KA-F Quick Convert Kidde-KA-F 3 $2.55 Adapter - Allows Installation of Kidde Alarm in Firex® Wiring Harness

    Good luck!

Brian, when I replaced one of my detectors a couple years ago, I found the adapters on Amazon. Take a look there.

Yes, Amazon has been great for these types of purchases. I recently bought a float switch for the sump pump at half the Home Depot price and a bag of O-Rings for the outside water faucets from Amazon. They've become the equivalent of the local hardware store in addition to everything else they provide.

Thanks for the info 6 detectors and 6 adaptors with shipping for less than what I would have paid for 6 detectors at home depot...
