Hi, I am closing on a new SFH home and am looking for a handy man to assist with some pre-move in work. I am having fence installed shorty and wanted to get some work done before I starte moving all my furniture in.

It is a two story, 3 bedroom 2 1/2 bath with a loft. It has completely finished basement with a bedroom (4th bedroom), den and media room and full bath (3rd bathroom) and small wet bar. The basement has a walkup.

Thinking it would be easier to get as much of this list done before we move in:

    Pre-move:

Painting several areas of the house (interior only)
32 window treatments (blinds, curtains, etc)
6 areas needing ceiling fans installed (with lights)

    Post-move:
4 flat screen (32-70inch) wall mounting
Furniture assembly - master bedroom queen size bed and frame, dresser with mirror. Child's beds

    Future:
Will be looking to doing a brick/stone patio and some garage storage and laying down floors in the attic and some drywall modifications as well. Estimate by end of 4Q14.

I am sure I will think of more as the days go by.

    Any referrals/recommendations are greatly appreciated.

We just got a very competitive estimate for painting, changing out fixtures, a new back patio door, hanging blinds, etc from Efrain Garcia at 703-727-1128. Nice guy, super knowledgable. Haven't used him yet but plan on soon.

One word of caution with painting right away in a new house. You may know, but you are likely to get a ton of nail pops with new construction. If you pain now, and want to fix the nail pops it way become a challenge with touch up. And it the builder fixes the nail pops as part of the warranty, they will not re-paint if you have custom colors. You may want to wait a year until you paint.

Also for blind and shutters etc. I found the Blind, Shade and Shutter Company to be the best (Brian - 703-669-2400)

And it may be too late now but did you do all the wiring you need for the TV locations? Is electrical behind the TV? Do you plan to use cable boxes for the TVs and if so, did you think about how to get the signal to them? Or do you just plan to have the wires hanging below the TVs?
