There are about a million different choices. Generally, I'd tell you to stick to Linksys (Cisco) or Netgear as the big names in the router market. Wireless standard AC is now the latest/fastest, so I'd recommend you get one that supports it. I personally have a Netgear R7000 (but they've since come out with the R7500 and R8000... haven't researched them.) The R7000 comes with a USB port so you can add a flash drive to use as a shared network drive, which is a pretty neat feature for a router nowadays. I think you can set it up to share it remotely too, but I haven't tried it yet. The R7000 is more of a high-end router though, you can probably get away with a cheaper one if money is the issue.

It's almost like asking what kind of microwave do you want to buy... one that cooks, please. Most routers are the same basic guts, the difference is in the speeds they support, and some have better filtering than others to keep the kids off the wrong sites. However, buy a light timer with it, and make it reboot every night (maybe when you want to kids to get offline too!) and you'll find it's much more stable and faster with a daily reboot.
