Is a gym great? No, but it is cheaper option than the costly gyms already mentioned.

There are already basketball courts at the Nature Center and main pool which are often unused. Unless you mean an indoor pool, well, we have enough of those too. As for a fire pit, really? You want to guess the liability for THAT? Loudoun is littered with picnic areas that, IMO, would be much nicer to go to then one surrounded by townhouses and having the constant noise from the Greenway.

    Just my 2 cents.

So, how big is this gym?
Can we go there and have a look around? Is there a capacity limit?

Is that Key Fob thing $25 a year? a month? per person?
    Thanks loads for any help.
    Who is managing the gym?
Okay, now I think I have asked enough questions :-D

    Okay, sooo
    I am bumping this.
I would really like to know about this new gym. I drove by it two weeks ago. It looks rather small but I can deal with that....
I am just getting very frustrated with Gold's at this point since the owner [Doug Berlin] sold his franchise (after the 2012 election I might add, it was a good time to cut and run) the new management is horrible. I am greatly looking forward to a gym in The B-lands

Can you expand on that? Are the services going down hill at Golds? It looks packed most of the day.

*sigh* they took out the sanitizer wipes dispensers. They also took out half of the squirt sanitizer dispensers.
Towels... you have to go to the desk to get ONE freaking towel.

The equipment is not kept up. THIS is my biggest "beef". Too many of the pieces of equipment are lacking screws, broken screws, broken seats and many pieces of equipment have loose adjustment things. I have spoken to management about this for five months. Not nasty or complaining, just letting them know.
I do not think anyone goes around on a daily basis and checks the equipment.

So, yeah, that makes me sad. This Gold's used to be extra clean and tidy all of the time.
They cut the cleaning people's time way back.
It is also way too hot in there now. they keep the temp higher than they used to.

You can definitely see the place going downhill! I heard one of the original owners sold out his part....I guess he was the one that really ran the place....

The only thing that keeps me there is I have a membership through my health insurance (BC/BS) where I pay $25 per month.

I do not have a membership through my healthcare plan and I PAY $25 a month!!!???
The gentleman that owned this franchise did indeed sell the franchise at the end of last year. His name is Doug Berlin.
He was a neat freak, and a very nice guy.

I checked out this fitness center last week. I was surprised that there wasn't a set of free weights/dumbbells there. Was that intentional, or are there plans to add more stuff later? (i.e., balance ball and/or bosu ball) It seemed kinda sparse. Also, I think that no person in their right mind would drive over there to do yoga in that extra room, not when you can do it in the privacy of your own family room or basement.

The healthcare part is great because I'm not tied to Golds. If I want to I can switch to another participating gym and go there for $25/month. I like the flexibility of using Golds during the winter when its close and convenient and then I switch to a gym closer to work in the summer. Its great not having to interact with the gym and I just make the change and show up.

Gosh, I have not been to the new little gym yet, but the absence of free weights is very surprising. I agree completely with you about the yoga room.
How about a few more treadmills and ellipticals. I am going to check it out and see if it is worth while.

The developer did not provide free weights in the yoga room due to safety concerns. There is a concern that the weights will go missing as well as that they could be thrown through a window, both destroying the window and leaving the building unsecured. The Board of Directors discussed whether to add free weights to the yoga room at their meeting on June 10th and voted against adding free weights for the same reasons.

Does anyone know the wifi password for the gym? A wifi comes up with the name guest but it requires a password to access. Thanks

Currently the way the wireless works on the network there is no ability to give the password out without potentially compromising the association network. I believe the tech committee was going to review options to provide wireless at some point in the future.

The gym is okay. It is a little warm in there though.... Anyone in charge of the temp regulation might want to turn it down a degree or two.
I just quit my Gold's membership, so I hope this works for me.

Oh! and the equipment is fine. I do not really care about the wifi connect.
    The tv is nice too

Any update on the Wifi password? It would be really, really helpful to have access.

    Thanks!
