Punta Cana

    Has anyone been to Punta Cana? I'm not familiar with the "neighborhoods" the hotels are categorized under on Trip Advisor. Need recs. Looking for an upscale fun girls weekend hotel on a beautiful beach in a safe area.

    We almost went there for our honeymoon (we went Costa Rica instead). It was highly recommended by a travel agent we worked with, but we decided we wanted the boutique experience more than the all-inclusive resort. I think we considered the Excellence Punta Cana Resort.

    Going to Paradisus Palma Real Golf & Spa Resort next week for a company function for a few days. Its an all-inclusive and supposed to be nice but I have not been to that resort yet.

    We have been to Punta Cana 6 times, each time we stayed at a different resort. Trip Advisor forum has lots of regular visitors so read that often. I'll add a link to a map so you can see where the airport is in relation to the resorts. Since they have expanded the airport and improved the "highway" getting to and from is easy. You can't go wrong with Majestic Colonial or any of the Iberostar resorts. Most beaches are fine powdery sand, which stays cool. The only reasons we haven't been back since 2011 is because we got a puppy (add more $$ to the expense) and airfare prices. However, I have started to price trips and hope to return this summer.
