Contacting the County with Sidewalk Clearing Complaints

We have been notified by Loudoun County that residents should do the following to report sidewalks which have not been cleared of snow:

Go to Loudoun.gov (http://loudoun.gov/Default.aspx?tabid=3078) to file an online complaint.

Roger Carroll at 703-777-0220 is the contact in zoning should residents wish to contact the county by phone, however the online complaint should be completed first.

 

This reminds me that I've been meaning to ask: who is responsible for the sidewalk along Truro Parish between Stillbrook Farm and Waxpool? It's the new sidewalk along the Dobson Hill homes.

Great, thanks! That's how the kids walk to school and yesterday it was still buried in snow.

 

Has anyone actually used this yet and seen action from the county?

 

I've used in the past and was there wasn't enough man power to go to all the complaints they were getting.....:-(

 

I sent in a report and a day or so later the person's sidewalk was cleared. I don't know that it was because of my report but it was done. And these people never do it so it would be a big coincidence otherwise. Still, I wish these people would have done it on their own as considerate citizens.

 

I thought I'd update with my experience.

I posted a complaint Friday afternoon. Monday morning a county building inspector called to ask if it was still a problem. I told her it was.

A few hours later the neighbor was out shoveling, so i suspect they'd had a come to Jesus meeting with the inspector. Either that or they decided they'd had quite enough of watching all those poor kids walk through dangerous conditions to get to their bus stop and out of the goodness of their heart found the strength to be a good neighbor and responsible homeowner.

What do you do if the home(s) in question are no longer occupied?

 

my guess is shovel their snow... or split the cost of hiring a kid with a snowblower with a neighbor...

 

Does anyone have the new URL? Old one is broken, the County website is useless (searched over 150 suggestions from their search feature), and calling puts you to a voicemail account.
