    Hi All,

Several times recently, I've gotten neighbors' mail and put it in their mailboxes (if I knew where the house was) or marked it "not at this address." Within the past 2 weeks, I also had two of my prescriptions from the mail-order pharmacy misdelivered to another neighbor on different days (the same neighbor both times). The neighbor wrote "Redeliver" on the packages, so I eventually received them. (One package was delivered two weeks after I had expected it, and after I had already ordered an emergency replacement.) I also had an insurance-reimbursement check that never arrived, so the issuer put a stop-payment on it and mailed me another one.

I called U.S.P.S customer service (Call 1-800-ASK-USPS® (1-800-275-8777)), and the rep filed a complaint with our local post office. A couple of years ago, I had a similar spate of problems, and the local post office "investigated." I was told then that contractors (not regular USPS employees) are used to deliver mail to our route and that they would be spoken to about my concerns. Is anyone else noticing mail-delivery issues?

I've had them deliver a package to the wrong house... when they literally had to get out of the truck and goto the door, and write a note, and they still got it wrong.

Receiving neighbors mail and missing personal mail has been an issue for years. I didn't know the carriers were contractors - that explains a lot!

This has been happening much more frequently lately. I filed a complaint also and was told that it is illegal to put the mail in our neighbors' boxes when it is misdelivered. We have been missing a large number of expected items lately and also incurred stop check fees and late fees when they lost a payment we HAD to make using the postal service.

Yikes. Well, maybe if a lot of us file complaints at the same time, they will finally do something? Is that too optimistic of me?

It has been an issue for many years on my street. I give the mail to my neighbors when I get it. It is rare that someone brings something to me though. But, I try to do the right thing.

The Post Office here (and Falls Church) seems to have some serious issues. Just yesterday I received a note saying they tried to deliver a package when I was sitting 20 feet from my door all day, so the delivery person was clearly just lazy. Also, I hate the fact that I can see a consolidated post box 150 feet from my front door, but I have to walk all the way to the neighborhood entrance to pick up my mail—something I called the Postmaster about and was brushed off. Van Metre and USPS just point at each other. To top it all off, I have had lost very important certified mail and they almost lost our wedding rings I mailed to a jeweler via insured post.

At least 3 times in the past month I have gotten my neighbors mail. I filed a complaint with the Post Office. God knows where my mail is going.

Do you mean physical mail or email? I get incorrect email at my house all the time. All I do is block the sender and put it in the junk mail folder.

I have an excellent regular mail carrier. She rocks however; she goes on vacation for about a month right after Christmas and then the trouble starts.

We've been married almost 18 years, I hope my wife is getting the correct male at the house.

Funny you wrote this. I didn't think we had any problems with getting the wrong mail, but then the other day we received two pieces of mail that were addressed to the same street number as ours, but a completely different street nowhere near ours.

Just yesterday we received our tax returns back in a plastic bag. Evidently the machine damaged the envelope. Something's going on around here.

We are in the Southern Walk community and have received our neighbour's mail a few times, and who knows who is getting ours.... Also, last week I received one of my magazines in the mail - front cover completely ripped off.... my first thought was that maybe the mailperson is interested in what's on the cover, or was it torn off at the post office? Additionally, I have stopped using the Broderick Post Office because I don't believe that my mail is getting to its destination... I would rather drive a few extra miles to use a different post office. I shouldn't have to but........

I've had a PO box for years, so all I get here at the house is junk mail. I know its a waste of $120 a year, but after having mail stolen and mis-delivered, its so nice to drop by the box twice a week and have it all there. Also never have to worry about packages being stolen as its locked in the parcel container....

I just went for a walk and caught the delivery man throwing envelopes and packages from the truck to the base of the mailboxes. I said something to him, so hopefully he will be shamed into respecting his charges.

Been getting wrong mail for a long time now - Also, one day last week, (I was home and watched this happen) The "carrier" put my mail in the box, then proceeded to force in a package that was too big to fit, distorting my mailbox and crushing my mail. I was at the Broadlands post office 10 minutes later to complain.

Why did you watch and do nothing about it?
