I have used both. Bad experience with Academy. Never a bad experience with Collegiate.

No, simply responding to a question. If I wanted to grind it, I would have directed them back to that old thread.
But I would still never use, or recommend anyone use, Academy. That's all.

I have had a bad experience with Academy. They had to re-do the whole driveway!

Used Collegiate and have never had any problems with them at all! My neighbors and I have used them for years and are pleasantly pleased with them.

I just had a bad experience with Collegiate. I usually seal my own and neighbor's driveway, it isn't that difficult and can do it for under $100 and about an hour of time. I called several to get prices because I was home from overseas for just a few weeks and thought it would be worth looking into a contractor providing service. I received a high quote from Academy and it turned me away ($240). Collegiate quoted me at $88. So I used them. When they came out, they said that was only for half the driveway and the full driveway was $52 more (my neighbor and I share a driveway, but would consider it one driveway). The problem is their quote system. They wanted double. The manager wasn't in that day so I told them to perform the work and I would talk to the manager.... assuming he would understand the mistake but stand by his word (and fix the quote problem). He didn't. I reluctantly paid the balance but due to their unsatisfactory customer service, I wouldn't use them or recommend them to anyone. I'm not looking for a discount...I even told them that I'd be an advocate for them if they worked this out and would be a dedicated customer. They said they didn't care and it was worth $50 now than anything in the future. So I paid them and wish them good luck. I prefer not have that kind of business doing anything for my home. I'd pay the higher price and go with Academy... or do it myself.

Just so I understand, you have one of those double driveways shared between two houses? If that's the case I don't see where the problem is. It's a double driveway, two addresses, it cost's double the amount. Actually, the fact that they were willing to do the other half for $52 more is a deal. Granted they should have been more specific in their quote, but in their defense, they do these types of driveways all the time. One address, one quote. You have to be specific if you need both sides done. Then again, maybe I completely misunderstand your situation...

I have the same situation... a pipe stem driveway that serves 2 addresses. I get even more specific when I get a quote. I ask for 3 prices. My Driveway, neighbor's driveway and then the shared portion. My neighbor just split the shared portion 50/50. I have used both companies and had good experience with both. The prices are typically the same or they match.
