Anyone know when the fountain at the Broadlands sign at the corner of Old Ryan and Mooreview will be operating again?

Previous posts on this topic stated that this fountain is maintained by the Commercial Broadlands HOA (Van Metre) and not part of Broadlands HOA and therefore not part of our HOA dues.

Kevinq is correct. The HOA does not own or maintain the fountain and therefore your HOA dues aren't paying for it. As indicated in my post above the fountain has water supply issues and Van Metre is working on it. They would like to get it working just as much as you I'm sure.

I can't believe you being the Hoa President you can't get a answer on how long the repair will take?

Chris - thanks for thinking that I have some sway over the developer..... I ask this at every meeting and the answer is always the same - problem not readily diagnosable. However I was told yesterday that its expected to be on by today or the beginning of next week.

Chris, as a resident of this Van Metre community, you can call Van Metre to voice your displeasure of the inoperable fountain with Van Metre.

Keving, It's been done! What's the point of having a Hoa Board? They should be able to get a eta on the fix.......

If someone said the same thing about you controlling your wife... what would you reply? :) :) The HOA has no authority over the developer or property the developer owns. It's a symbiotic relationship - not a direct authority one. Requests, agreements, etc. It's not like the HOA can threaten Van Meter or their reps in a meaningful way. It's politics man... a balancing act.

You can also participate in the board meetings and voice your displeasure to either of those parties in person and see if that helps.

Since the Dulles Greenway passes through Broadlands, can the HOA Board work on getting distance-based tolls?

Anyone happen to have some info on the status of the fountain? It hasn't been working for quite some time now, but I notice that the sprinkler systems right in front of it are on. Seems to be a recurring pattern....

I’ll bring this up at the next Board meeting. I’ve noticed this also...

Keep in mind that the Broadlands HOA isn’t responsible for the fountain, Van Metre is.

With Van Metre’s rezoning application recommended for approval by TLUC, I suspect they won’t fire it up since it will be removed to make way for future development.

I heard back from a Van Metre representative and received some preliminary information regarding the fountain. They had a main line bust, which is why the fountain is currently not running. The company they contract with for repairs has been busy with the start of pool season, but I'm told that VM expects the fountain to be up and running this week if no other issues are found. There was also mention of a possible leak, so they will be looking into that as well. Perhaps we'll get updated information at Tuesday's Board meeting.

And in regards to Cliff's comment above, here's what they told us: "Right now, the plan is to try and save and integrate the fountain into our plans for that section."

Finally, the HOA did ask VM to coordinate with us if there is a decision to remove/destroy the letters so that we can see if they can be relocated. They have become a 'landmark' and I would hate to see them go if they can be relocated elsewhere in our community.

Saw a NV Pools truck near the sign earlier today...hopefully it should be back on soon.

On a side note...what's with the overgrown lily beds along Mooreview Parkway and Wynridge Drive...they are full of tall weeds. Looks unsightly. I think these medians are maintained by Van Metre commercial??
