    Hi All,
This weekend the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts are distributing bags as part of their annual Scouting for Food event. Cub Scouts from Pack 1484 (from Mill Run Elementary) spent 4 hours in the rain this morning distributing a whopping 3700 bags to homes in Broadlands and Brambleton. Other Packs from other schools were also out working.
If you haven't already, please retrieve that bag and fill it with non-perishable food. There is a flyer inside that requests that you leave the bag (full of food) outside your front door next Saturday 11/14. Cub Scouts will begin picking up bags as early as 8:30-9:00 AM, so please make sure it's out on-time. The food collected in this drive will be driven directly to a food bank here in Ashburn to help stock their shelves for the upcoming holidays.

    Thank you for your support

P.S. If you're wondering why the bag looks different this year (ie, no official Scout markings), there was a mistake made at the printer. Not sure what happened, but the result was that we distributed "normal" grocery store bags.

Is it ok to leave more than one bag out to be picked up? Since it will cub scouts picking them up, I wasn't sure if that would be too much for them to carry. I realize they will have an adult with them, but I am assuming the boys will be doing the picking up and carrying to the car as part of their service. Any info would be greatly appreciated. ( I don't know alot about the scouts, I am guessing the cubs are the much younger kids.)

Sure! Those little bags don't hold enough...I usually use a couple of paper bags doubled up. And, there are usually several adults helping the kids collect the bags.

The Cub Scouts LOVE when there are multiple bags! If you feel like donating more, they will definitely take it. On 11/14 we are hoping to have some older Boy Scouts help as well, so carrying the bags will not be a problem. I will echo KTdid's advice and recommend double-bagging heavier items.

On behalf of all of the local Scouts and their Parents volunteering next weekend, Thank You.

We have cars/minivans that drive along with the scouts as they pick up, so feel free to make as heavy as you wish! Last year we hit just over 8,100 pounds, we want to do even better this year!
