Whether or not you like snow, the inevitable fact is: we're going to be digging out as a community. Post your experiences, pictures, thoughts, etc.

We haven't seen the snow plow all day today on Middle Ridge Place/Stonewheel Way area. Is it the same story for everyone?

Same situation here. I called the Dispatch number an hour and a half ago, and they said they'd have someone over, and nothing. Really troubling, is that an ambulance needed to get down our block, and couldn't, and the paramedics had to get out and walk down the street. I told dispatch this, still, no one has come. We also have two people on the block who have essential jobs they need to get to tonight. We're on a HOA block, and I think we're being ignored.

We had a tractor come down a few hours ago. I think the snow is too deep for the standard pickup and plow.

I walked the streets a couple hours ago. Nothing but heavy plows and major snow drifts. It will be Tuesday before we resemble anything close to normal. Welcome to the new Buffalo!

Looks like they dropped the ball this time on preparation and clearing it frequently so that it wouldn't come to this.

Dropped the ball? We have 20-30 inches of snow and a lot of blowing. There's only so much they can do until it slows down.

Sounds like a case of under-staffing which I guess is understandable on a day like this. Not even doing one round of plowing all day on a lot of streets still sounds like 'dropped ball' to me.
Just hoping that there are not many emergency situations around where paramedics having to walk entire streets to get to a house.

I am not from here- it's my first year in Ashburn, VA. Does anyone know if the plow trucks will give favor and remove snow from driveway by Tuesday?

Saamna, That would be very unlikely. You should probably try to hire someone once the streets are clear.

Would you happen to know where/how I can call/hire?

This storm is comparable to a Buffalo and WNY Blizzard. It probably would rank in their top 7. What makes it hard for us is the lack of heavy snowblowers, tractors, and private plow contracts. Hope everyone has success clearing out in the next few days!

How much snow did we get. I guessing around 30".
I will take a couple of days to dig out. Hopefully, snow wont freeze.

Schools may not open until Wednesday/Thursday.

First they are using wrong equipment, small truck for this massive snow and second the blades are wrong, they need to use v shape blades and not flat ones! They do not even clean the full road only one sweep and from yesterday morning I have not seen one yet!

Plows always work in stages... They don't go for full width cleaning on the early passes.

Two - no one uses v shaped blades around here... Not even vdot's big trucks.. They use the curl types. They aren't going to swap everything out for one event.

It will take time for the plows to move through everything. Note, even vdot's suspended all plowing operations yesterday due to the blizzard conditions. We are only about 12hrs after the storm... Have some common sense.
