Plows push the snow... It has to go somewhere. The banks of snow blocking driveways after a plow goes through the is just a fact of life. It has nothing to do with the quality or not of the contractor.

Some expectations people have are just unrealistic.

We are pretty well blocked in too, a 5' wall of plowed snow along Demott is covering the Foche Terrace entrance, and this street hasn't been touched since very early Saturday morning. Please let us out!

The plows continue to make their way through the community. They are aware of complaints on all of the streets noted here, but not all areas can be done at once. There are cases where one road had to be skipped in a section because a vehicle was blocking it while they were there or heavy equipment was needed to assist the pickup trucks so they have to come back at a later time. They will continue working through the night to try to make a passable lane on all HOA owned roads by 5am. That is the goal, but cannot be guaranteed as the temperatures plummet, not to mention depleting fuel supply and trucks that can get stuck or break down due to extreme wear and tear after 48 hours of nonstop use. Our fleet is doing well for now with only one truck down. We are doing everything possible to create passable roads. With regards to the snow plow phone, they monitor the phone for missed calls and text messages, but are also busy plowing and keeping the battery charged. As far as creating walls at the end of your driveway, this is a likely scenario with the high volume of snow. This video may be of help, though we understand not everyone has the ten feet. It is more to show that the snow has to get pushed off to the sides. It is a result of how a plow blade works. https://www.facebook.com/cbs6wtvr/videos/10153422404932426/.

I understand the small amount of snow could block my driveway after the snow plow, but not the large amount when they tried to shovel inside the areas when people were working so hard trying to clean up, and then have it blocked again.
We did our job by pushing on the both sidewalks, not toward the streets ..
Anyway, for some other neighborhoods, our friends told us their snow removal teams are much smarter, they created the common areas (using public areas), and created a small mountain of snow, so that snow would not have to pushed into someone's driveways.
I guess that is not the case for our contractors then ...

Because Broadlands is so spread out, trying to create a common area to deposit all of the extra snow is very challenging. It takes hours and hours (which also equates to thousands of dollars) to physically move the snow from one street to another parking lot. The option was discussed, but determined that although it can be smart to do that under some circumstances, it was not in this case.

Quick question: is Chickacoan relatively plowed at this time? We're coming back home from out of town today, and are hopeful to get in. (We live right on Chickacoan near Clydes.

They work at night because they actually work all day and all night to clear all this snow. I spoke to one driver who had been working since it started snowing at 1pm on Friday. They've been working nonstop and haven't been home to be with their families, get a good meal or a good night's sleep. They're doing the best they can so how about cutting them a break. This area doesn't get regular snow like this, so they have to make use of the equipment they have.

And I've had to shovel the snow back out the end of my driveway several times. It happens, I'll live.

    Can this thread be closed?
Same thing EVERY TIME we get a significant amount of snow, not to mention a historic one. Too many damn whining posts from people who are to selfish or just "don't get it".

Folks have a right to vent their frustrations and you have a right to skip this thread. Besides, someone's post may be helpful to a newbie unfamiliar with snow and snow removal. Give them a break.;)

So are you saying it's not valid for community members to ask 'when' something will be done?
All I am asking is a little transparency in the schedule for the clean up / removal so that I can plan accordingly.

I made a helpful chart to use when trying to determine when all of the snow will be cleaned up. Please feel free to share w/others.

People shouldn't have been driving over the weekend either, so the snowplow crews should be given time to clear the roads.

3 feet of snow and you want transparency? The plow crews have never had to plow this much after one storm and have no idea how long it will take to get to each street. They also will have problems as to where the snow will be put. Their primary concern, at this point, isn't individual homes but the masses (needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few). Unfortunately, townhouse sections are probably the last roads to get plowed as they are not "feeder" roads. They are also the most difficult to find room for where to put the snow and it is difficult to get heavier equipment to get to the roads in the first place.

Thanks for the update, and certainly appreciate that the drivers have been working like crazy to dig us out. Can we get an update when the plowing is done so anyone who may have been missed can call the dispatch line?
