WITH THIS WEEKEND'S FORECAST CALLING FOR SO MUCH SNOW, PLEASE MAKE A POINT TO FOLLOW THESE TIPS:

    Before:
    • Move cars from street parking to garage/driveway to allow plows plenty of room
    • Bring in your Thursday trash and recycle bins, so they aren’t in the way - or buried.
    During/After
    • It’s a big storm - give the crews time to reach your street.
    • Be sure to contact the appropriate plowing company - see Snow Removal Guidelines
    • When clearing your driveway, pile snow to the sides, so the plow won’t push it back into your driveway.
    • Clear sidewalks in front of your house as soon as possible (it’s the law).
    • Be mindful of your neighbors, please pile snow where it won’t be a nuisance.
    More tips from VDOT:

The Broadlands Association is not responsible for removing snow or treating state or county maintained (VDOT) roadways. The Association is only responsible for clearing snow from paved parking areas in townhome neighborhoods and HOA maintained roads in the community. Snow removal will be performed when an accumulation of 2 inches or more has fallen on the ground. Please click the following list to find out if VDOT or the HOA maintains your street, which numbers to call with questions, and guidelines on snow removal: SNOW REMOVAL LIST AND GUIDELINES

Where town houses are involved and there are no sides, I'm wondering if the snow plow operators have been instructed to push the snow to the end of the streets vice back in our driveways?

ChopperDan, they do what they can but as you can imagine, when a plow pushes snow straight forward it builds accumulation on the blade and with as much snow as we're expected to get, they can push straight forward only so far. The blades are designed to move snow out to the sides for this reason.

Id like to see the HOA mark all the hydrants so we can find them, I spent an hour looking for the onentire on Larchmont and still can't find it. I hope we don't end up needing it.

Someone marked the two on either side of my house. Additionally, you get to remember where they are if you get into the habit of clearing them after every snowfall.

How are the kids supposed to "walk" to school Monday, when the tractors just came through and added more to the sidewalk?!

We had our fire hydrant cleared but it is no more. For the safety of all of us, can the Board to something to clear the hydrants of snow? It would have probably been a good idea to mark these for the plows in the first place.
