Heard that the Safeway may be closing in a month or so. Any truth to this? Would not be surprised as it is never very busy.

that's a shame. I really wanted to like that store, but every time I went in there to buy something, the lines would be long and there was only one or two registers open. I decided that Harris Teeter had better and more efficient service.

I hope we get a WEGMANS! Just kidding, the parking lot is too logical for Weggers. Lotte would be fine. At least the produce would be interesting and fresh.

Publix would be great. Looks like they're starting with two stores in the Richmond area. Is Piggly Wiggly still around?

I just picked up my dad's pills there this afternoon. I spoke with the pharmacist, Susan. She is so nice.
I will miss her. She said the company offered her two positions in locations she was not interested in, so she is retiring.
    I will miss them.
She has been so helpful this past two years. I am caring for my parents, both 93. She auto refills the pills, calls the docs.
It has just been so helpful
Anyway, She said all prescriptions would be auto transferred to CVS.
Now that is a while 'nuther subject there .... with Target pharmacy closing and CVS taking over their pharms.
Dang, what next? waaaah boo hoo

It's too bad. Safeway is a nice alternative to the Harris Teeter and Giant. Their wine selection was very nice.

Given all the other supermarkets in the area, I don't think it is a given that there will be a new supermarket there. It may just sit empty.

Wife and I were talking about that this evening. Can an anchor grocery store be easily split up into multiple store fronts?

The reason we rarely shop there is because it takes longer to check out than to choose our groceries. If they had put in a self check aisle or two, I am certain we would have shopped there more often. I don't always have 20 or more minutes to wait in line to check out!

We love Susan too. She knew everyone's name and was always going out of her way to help.

Yes, the Safeway gas station will go too - but I imagine another will take over quickly

When do you go that this is the assumed situation? I hear this complaint all the time, yet no one seems to complain about the wait at wegmans, or HT when they are busy too.

I know they run light on cashiers, but they always open more when a line forms in my experience... and the surge is usually short lived. I think people are just more peeved over only seeing 1-4 cashiers.. instead of the wait actually being longer than other stores (who are running more cashiers.. but still have a wait as well).

This situation has gotten much better recently, but it might be too little too late.

I love Susan as well! She's so helpful and remembers you each time you go to pick up a prescription. I do not like that they are automatically transferring prescriptions to CVS. I'll need to go in and request another pharmacy. Not a fan of CVS.
