Just wondering if anybody is taking their kids/babies to this practice and if so, how do you like the doctors? Tried to get in to Ashburn Pediatrics but they aren't accepting new patients (and they referred me to Haynesworth). Need to switch from Ashburn Village Pediatrics- I'll spare you the details!! ;) Thanks.

I was taking my baby and 5 yr. old there but wasn't thrilled. I went back to our pediatrician in Sterling, Reston Pediatrics. There are 2 doctors at Hayneworth. One did my baby's 6 month old check-up. I felt it was not very thorough and very little information was provided about going to solid foods. They also told me he isn't gaining weight fast enough but when I went for a second opinion, he was fine. Reston Pediatrics (offices in Reston and Sterling) provides written hand-outs at the visits with developmental, feeding info, etc. I can't say the practice or doctors are bad in anyway - I just didn't get a warm, fuzzy feeling. One good note: they don't have many patients so no waiting.

Just wanted to let you know that Reston Pediatrics missed my daughters cancer. We had to go to childrens hospital on our own to finally get a diagnosis because they totally droped the ball at Reston Peds. I wouldn't go there.

I have heard very good things about Haynesworth. I take my kids to Capital Area Peds : Lisa Williams and Christine Wilson, there are 2 new docs that have joined them. They are taking new patients as far as I know. They are great with kids, have a warm and fuzzy bed side manner and are very friendly, I have never had a problem getting in to see them, even when I have not had an appt but needed one of my kids to be seen. Hope that helps. Good Luck

I hope your daughter is okay now. That is really scary that they missed something as serious as cancer. We go to Reston Pediatrics but now I am thinkg we may need to reconsider that. Did they not pay attention to symptons or they they miss diagnose her?

Thanks for the info about Reston Peds. Was it the Countryside office or Reston? There is a new doc. at Countryside, Dr. Davis, who we have been seeing. She seems very good. The first of 3 different docs (including Dr. Parvin at Haynesworth) to diagnose our 8 mo. old with reflux and prescribe medication. I suspected it but was brushed off a number of times.

The office we went to was in Countryside. Dr. Mcdonald is the doctor we saw. They ignored the symptoms of vaginal bleeding in a 2 y.o. and a small polyp like growth protruding from her vagina. I suspected cancer and was told to relax. The suggestion was to put neosporin on it and go home. 3 weeks later my daughter, who was just potty tained, defecated in her underwear. As I was cleaning her with wipes I discvovered a huge growth that she had pushed out while straining. I immediatly called the pediatric office and was told Dr. Mcdonald was in a meeting. I explained the problem and the receptionist said they had already seen me for that The Dr couldn't be disturbed. That night I did research on the internet and found the cancer my daughter had. I called Children's hospital and spoke with an oncologist who got us in the next morning. We had a biopsy performed that same day and chemotherapy was started the next. I am happy to tell you our daughter is now 8 and will be 5 years cancer free in January. This cancer is very aggressive and those 3 weeks could have been the difference.

Congratulations Latka. I am glad that your daughter is doing fine now. I can't imagine how a doc can ignore those symptoms.

Latka, I am glad your daughter is doing fine. We have been using Reston Pediatrics for 16 years, and gratefully our experiences have been all positive.

Thanks for the info. I met with the other doctor in the practice and she seemed ok, but I wasn't thrilled. Anybody know anything about Whole Child Pediatrics (Dr. Pasternak)? My poor little guy is such a mess. Has reflux, has to see a pediatric GI for all kinds of digestive issues, possible milk allergy or intolerance... ugh! I really need a knowledgeable pediatrician!

Golfnut, One of my little ones had reflux, etc due to a milk allergy and we switched him over to soy and the problem went away. Also if your little one is seeing a GI, Ashburn Pediatrics has a pediatric gastroenterologist in the practice. Hope that helps.

I've been taking my now two year old son to Dr. Laura Pasternak since he was born. She is warm and caring and we never feel rushed at our appointments. Dr. Bunger is another doctor with the practice, and she is great as well. It's a very busy practice, so you may want to check with the receptionist to see if they're accepting new patients. Good luck!

    Hi,
I just read your need for a good GI doc. for your little one. I need one for my child too, who will be 2 in March. Did you ever find one that you were really happy with? Thanks for any advice... KAT

    Hi Sunny,
Thanks for the help! We have an appt. for Dr. Sirlin. By the way, any recommendations on a regular pediatric practice?

Kat- I too recommend Dr. Sirlin. We've been taking our little guy there since early December and he's doing so much better! As for the pediatrician, we actually decided on Dr. Jeffrey Cohn at Broadlands Family Practice (in the professional plaza across from Giant). We love him! He's so personable and he really knows his stuff. We've had to have him paged a couple of times, and he returned our calls right away. A coworker went to him and recommended him, as well as another friend who takes her entire family to see him. They both love him too!

    Hope this helps :)

We took our one year old to Dr. Malik, she has been wonderful. The practice sees adults too, so it's convenient for us. Right across from GIANT on farmwell.. their number is 7038589192
