Motorized Go Carts

Now that summer has arrived, I've noticed several kids riding motorized go carts along the path behind Springwell Drive. Is this allowed? They're going rather fast and as a walker with a dog, it scares not only my dog, but me. Can anything be done about this?

I know its written in the HOA docs somewhere but motorized vehicles of any kind are not allowed on the trails... including battery operated kids versions.

 

Yeah, I know...but does the HOA have the time to go out to the paths to enforce them? I would think not. Just as I think T8erman would say "Kids will be kids" ...nuttin' will happen to the kids me thinks unless we wanna put cops on the paths. Hard to enforce these rules on the path when kids would be long gone by the time the "path cops" arrive, I would gather.

 

I think the point has more to do with not being able to claim ignorance to the rules too. Like most issues in the neighborhood, enforcement is largely in the hands of the homeowners... who can also reach out to the HOA with specific complaints.

 

I agree, but when a go cart comes up behind you scaring your dog and you, calling HOA won't do any good at all.....they'll be long gone. Now, what people can do is try to stop them and let them know no motorized vehicles are allowed on the paths

 

True---but I doubt the kids will listen to whomever tries to stop them. I'd be wary of trying to stop them physically (due to obvious reasons) but instead take pics using iphone and show them to HOA. That way you don't have to worry about the kids' parents coming after you if you attempted to physically stop them. I know many parents advise their kids not to talk to "strangers" or to stop for them.

But yep, I hear what you are saying nonetheless. Maybe putting up signs or putting warnings in the HOA newsletter may alert parents? Just a thought.

 

Yes, you're right about that. It has been posted in the HOA newsletter, but maybe signs would help as well.
